to want to know all about "CVQ" and "Lola"?

....all the stuff about trolls IS getting a bit boring, I can see that.

I saw one thread MaggieBee had posted on where she was taken in by a troll, and I felt very bad for her for that reason (I would have been taken in too) and also bad for her that some people seemed to be blaming her for having believed the troll. So I can see why trolls are nasty and people don't like them.

Also, I do think that some of the more enthusiastic "troll hunting" and ing is pretty off-putting.

I feel like I should be grown up enough to not be at all interested in any of the gory details...

...BUT I suppose I also think of MN as a place where it is OK, sometimes, to not be all that grown up...

..and so, I have to admit, I DO want to know - what did these people do??? What did CVQ and Lola do??????

i don't think foolish, i think people who are exploited by trolls are kind, maggie. that's no bad thing, and there's always the thought that the posts might have helped someone else.

MrsMuddle · 17/06/2009 22:33

And then there was Hills (or something) who changed her name to pretend to be a friend who posted to say Hills had committed suicide. Not sure if she was a troll or just mentally ill. MNHQ confirmed that the two posters were the same person.

I sometimes wonder if I'm the only real person on here!

SlartyBartFast · 17/06/2009 22:33

i spose if someone asks for help, you want to be able to give it if you can.

MaggieBee · 17/06/2009 22:36

oh yes, the one whose friend died from an eating disorder. I read but didn't post.

At least several of the nutters were the same person.. That's less depressing.

starkadder · 17/06/2009 22:37

I think that believing other people is not something we should be ashamed of.

I didnt know all about this troll stuff, I dont post very regular however i did get accused of being one, something to do with the pushchair shed. Very unpleasant I was very upset.

FenellaFudge · 17/06/2009 22:40

CVQ made my skin crawl.
The constant 's and 's and the 3 word posts that had other posters hanging on the thread to make sure she was ok.
It was compelling stuff though - couldn't hide the threads because I was dying to see if someone, alot braver than me, would start to challenge her.
I do find troll's strangely fascinating.

AitchTwoOh · 17/06/2009 22:42

did anyone challenge her? i couldn't be arsed, she was soooooooo boring.
now go and look at my jordan thread and lolol.

Flibbertyjibbet · 17/06/2009 22:45

oh I had no idea cvq (coping very quietly, yes?) had been outed as a troll! I used to see her threads and yes I came to think 'oh get a grip women' but I hadn't seen the early threads stating that the child had been conceived from rape, I thought she must be a single parent who had been raped.

I did see lola's thread last week and was howling with laughter at her outing herself! I was just about to put a though myself at the bit where she must have remembered that this character was supposed to have just given birth to twins, so she hurredly added a post to say that although the niece was coming round she had given her 'new born twins' to her mother for the night and gave far too much info about how she could make up the time with them for the rest of their lives but the niece needed her more tonight.

Does anyone remember the one where the woman was posting to say her partner was abusive, she'd gone into labour very prematurely, there was a post 'OH MY GOD MY WATERS HAVE BROKE'...(for some reason I remember the full gramatically incorrect post ) then after giving birth to a very early baby was back posting within 24 hours saying the baby was called hope, put pics on her profile, and giving out her paypal addy when some lovely mumsnetters offered help! SHE was outed when some bloody brilliant mumsnetter posted a link to a pic of the baby that the op had cut and paste from some photo library on the internet!

BettyTurnip · 17/06/2009 22:46

I always read CVQ as QVC for some reason, putting me in mind of nasty jewellry and control pants.

FAQinglovely · 17/06/2009 22:46

CVQ - she was the one that "rained on my parade".........well not really but I was genuinely going through a really really shit time at the same time as she "was". Looking back now I know it's silly but at the time I was really and that everyone graduated towards her threads and left me on my own

SlartyBartFast · 17/06/2009 22:47

that was shocking

AitchTwoOh · 17/06/2009 22:47

and i don't think the red gingham was a good choice for the pear-shape behind, do you? poor jordan, trying to be all alluring and i'm criticising the bikini choices of the headless ladies.

Portofino · 17/06/2009 22:47

I was quite new to MN when Needssupport and CVQ got fully going. I never thought of her as a troll, though I did wonder often that the baby was always crying, and yet she was on the internet posting about it......I mean ALL the time.

My dd went through a stage of not settling in the evening. Dinners were burnt. Posting on the internet was FAR from my mind.

AitchTwoOh · 17/06/2009 22:48

whoops, wrong thread.

thell · 17/06/2009 22:53

Aitch!

FenellaFudge · 17/06/2009 22:55

Oh yes, the prem baby - brilliant moment when Hunker (afaicr?) outed the picture as a c&p!
Moments like that make trolls worth enduring.
Ish.

MaggieBee · 17/06/2009 22:56

Aitch, even though it's the wrong thread I knew exactly what you were talking about... Jordan's outfit??

wotzy · 17/06/2009 23:07

I remember all of this. And if there is something to be learnt, trolls are always around, but sometime you just are more forgiving in the hope of humanity in a shared community (that is MN).

TotalChaos · 17/06/2009 23:18

spacecadet 100% genuine. met her and her kids many times, she's busy doing face-painting work and rarely posts on here now.

AitchTwoOh · 17/06/2009 23:21

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/sleb_twaddle/775277-I-39-m-no-fan-of-porno-Jordan-but-i?msgid=15841576 maggie, here, you have to see the photos. lol.

and faq that is so shite, i'm sorry, must've been rubbish when you were low anyway.

FAQinglovely · 17/06/2009 23:24

yes it was a bit shit. At the time (before she was revealed as a troll) I just felt really silly about being upset, you know I wasn't the only one on MN with problems, couldn't expect people to always be on my threads supporting me (and mine like hers tended to be late night ones where there's fewer people around). Later on (when she was "outed" I was quite angry about it for a while. As I wondered how many other people, like myself, had been going through a genuine difficult time and had been missed off the general MN radar because of her threads.

AitchTwoOh · 17/06/2009 23:26

very true, they really are fuckers.
