AIBU?

to want to know all about "CVQ" and "Lola"?

....all the stuff about trolls IS getting a bit boring, I can see that.

I saw one thread MaggieBee had posted on where she was taken in by a troll, and I felt very bad for her for that reason (I would have been taken in too) and also bad for her that some people seemed to be blaming her for having believed the troll. So I can see why trolls are nasty and people don't like them.

Also, I do think that some of the more enthusiastic "troll hunting" and ing is pretty off-putting.

I feel like I should be grown up enough to not be at all interested in any of the gory details...

...BUT I suppose I also think of MN as a place where it is OK, sometimes, to not be all that grown up...

..and so, I have to admit, I DO want to know - what did these people do??? What did CVQ and Lola do??????

I remember well the mohze sbcu exotic holiday thread...!

So babyjjbaby was a troll too eh? Well well well. At least a year ago she was posting for information about formula, she asked something that made me make some comment - I didn't use the word troll or a but pretty close.

I was absolutely ripped to shreds and found myself posting an apology to the silly girl!!

Knickers where were you then?

She was always getting stuff like free washable nappies which are worth money, and I'd no idea what she got at xmas time.

I've never joined in the xmas swap but this year I think it should be that you can nominate who you want to swap with or send something to that you have got to know well.

No, you're not Salty but as you say it was extremely hard to find the correct course of action. If I'd been pally with those involved at the time I'd have said something but I didn't really know them at that stage. I seem to remember Lulu speaking out, and being relieved that she had.

I thought CvQ was........ well I certainly didn't think immediately that she was a troll, but certianly thought that something wasn't right. Someone asked earlier why I didn't mention this at the time well A) I stopped reading and started ignoring after a while and B) Could you imagine the response I'd have got if I'd gone on thethread and said "I think you're lying". Especially with so many people posting advice and their own experiences
I know I'm not the only one who thought this about her

I am so thick, I never knew (till now) CVQ was a troll

here unless there was another after that?

Really? I thought she said that the OP had contacted hq in distress re all the accusations/speculation flying around and subsequently several other threads got pulled too. I thought Justine said they ahd no evidence either way and were giving the B of the D as it were?

Jumente - there was a post from Justine saying that from looking at all the info they assumed that she was a troll (face grab one). I would search for the thread I mean but I can never find the ones I want to find .

Never thought Mozhe was a troll, just thought she was a more militant version of Xenia.

Jumente · 19/06/2009 13:44

GO I don't think hq confirmed that harsh face thing thread as being trollish

I can't remember, there have been so many recently but I seem to recall the general consensus on here was that it wasn't highly believable

Someone turned up on it just before it was pulled saying she knew the OP and it was a load of crap, but no one knows the truth.

No idea about Mozhe though I remember the thread

StealthPolarBear · 19/06/2009 13:43

Well I don't think she ever returned - although not sure what thet says, considering she got a complete slating on here

There was another troll thread a couple of weeks ago (can't remember the OP but it was something like 'DP grabbed my face today'. I read it through and was very sceptical, it was full of very short posts like 'have called police' 'i am scared' etc, with ages between posts. I just read it through and ignored it, would have been no good whatsoever shouting troll on that one. Think it was proved by MN towers in the end to have been a troll.

It's so annoying. Also, Mozhe from ages ago, was she proved to be a troll in the end? I know there was a lot of when she went to barbados waterskiing, leaving her new born baby in SCBU.

i remember cvq/ethanchristopher.

i read the 1st page of post about the school girl but didnt reply

i didnt reliese till about 2mins ago ( and i read the link and whole thread) that the op was actually lying lola

why do people feel the need to lie?

the only good thing i can see that comes out of trolling is that if someone has had the same experience that the troll has written about and puts their view, and someone else is reading who has the same problem but hasnt told anyone

that maybe their advice may help - iyswim

I remember that post littleducks and I wondered too.
I think someone actually got suspicious and wondered if she was a troll and got a bollocking off everyone.
I just remember thinking that if someones baby was really in trouble firstly why post and secondly why would you bother with emoticons?

I stayed off those threads.

I was taken in to a degree by the foxy threads, i didnt follow them that much but as was close to heathrow offered to lend car seats to the poster who was picking her up from the airport and lending her a house rent free

I did wonder how antbody got sucked in b#y CVQ, her first thread was her son allegedly having a febrile convulsion and she was poting details the whole time while waiting for ambulance. Im pretty sure there were at that but she continued on for ages

Ijust saw this thread was still going on and wanted to note FYI that Monkeymadness (who seemed very much focused on Psycho earlier) was also using another name to attack her on a different thread, and has been banned.

umlella has made a really important point.

With childline they let children talk even if they are obviously mucking about as often it is a test to see if they can really say anything. They then often come back and say what is really happening.

I must admit I remain unsure as to whether CVQ is/was a very damaged and desperately needy individual going through some sort of genuine trauma (though not the stuff he/she/it was actually claiming) or a malevolent psychotic of the sort that normally only pop up in bad thrillers.
Babyjj I think was just not all there: either genuinely very young and messed up, or someone with moderate (at least) learning difficulties.

wotzy · 18/06/2009 14:15

The sad thing is when a troll thread (like CVQ) used to pop up late at night when the boards were quiet, it was hard not to notice them as all the other threads/post become less frequent. Troll threads tend to hang around in a needy way. I sometimes felt if left unanswered, that genuine posters would not post at all, possibly thinking what an uncaring bunch, MNers are. It is best to not get sucked in if you feel unsure.

i don't think they're stable At All, i think that broadly speaking they are off their heads and needing attention to soothe some hurt, even if it's not the specific one they're posting about. but... they're taking advantage of people.

Report
Lizzylou · 18/06/2009 13:09

I know Mummy, it is really awful.
Not least because the MNers who tried to help her shared a lot of their traumatic experiences which CVQ used to suck them in further and even pretended they'd happened to her.
She obviously needs help.
This sort of thing is why there is such a disbelieving air about MN at the moment, which is understandable I think.

"CVQ pretended that she was raped and had a child as a result of this, had a lot of help from MNers and seemingly endless threads about panic attack etc, a lot happened offboard and she hurt an awful lot of lovely caring people"

that is absolutely disgusting. That someone can make up something like that for a bit of entertainment. It makes you wonder how stable they are.

LovingtheSilverFox · 18/06/2009 12:11

Just to put a different turn on these things, I think its indicative of the wonderful support of MN that people get so worked up by those that troll offensively. If MNetters didn't care so much and want to offer the support, things wouldn't get quite so fraught when people start fist waving.

psycho - I think part of the problem is that a lot of stuff goes on offsite or very discreetly on site so not everyone is aware - e.g. all the msning/phone calls and drama with CVQ, all the gifts sent to jjbaby or whatever teddy bear woman was called. I wasn't aware until this thread that anything other than the Xmas collection was provided for teddy bear woman.

BabyJJ was some next level fuckeries alot of people had given her things and she was selling items on Ebay.... It was rather emotional especially when she got some Christmas packages and others who needed these items missed out.

As for the troll hunters I am glad they do what they do there have been some bloody awful troll posts in which people have got emotionally involved in.

Knickersonmyhead I remember that thread when people were sticking up for BabyJJ but good on you for outing her.

Most of the big ones seem to kick off mid eve at the mo. I try to stay out of it. But felt this time it had really gone too far and needed to put a more reasoned voice
