well, the MIL funeral one, has gone now, and I also suspect the dog kicking one too, plus there was another that looked odd but cannot work it out yet....keeping an eye.

reported them, and MNHQ confirmed the MIL one

staying sunny, I have got ever so slightly paraniod good senses for these things, and so go search for the OP......if first post, and a nasty OP, chances are that it = trolls

What's slightly odd is that the MIL one was not beyond the realms of possibility and would result in a fairly boring stream of responses. No one crazy with fury but everyone in agreement. Not exactly thrilling.
I would have thought their sense of satisfaction comes from being caught out and causing a stir. In that particular case it can't be a hope to stir up extreme reaction. Perhaps better to smother threads like that with than shout 'troll'.

Thing is, they are obviously pretty thick so that you almost (not quite) have to feel sorry for them. If wandering round forums trolling is all they have in their lives then they are actually incredibly sad, pathetic individuals of very little brain, however clever they clearly think they are.

And I shouldn't have bothered replying to the MIL one as I knew it was pretty certainly a troll but just couldn't quite help myself as I was about to vent all the force of my rubbish stuck in bed with high temperature and chest infection weekend on it when it got deleted.

The MIL one was 'AIBU not to go to my MIL's funeral' - the back story being that she didn't get on with her MIL and couldn't see why she should attend the funeral with her dh.

The dog one was someone ranting about a dog left tied up outside all day, barking at her kids and being aggressive towards one, so she climbed over the fence and kicked it - and asked if this was unreasonable.

so how can MNHQ confirm a troll then? do they have a troll database or something? perhaps a checklist , if a thread gets x many reports??? .Cant spot trolls myself, thought the stepford thread was a troll, but it was genuine .need better trolldar( troll radar) lol

but it annoys me that lots of people just express normal opinions but because they are opposite to the OP, they get shouted down for being a troll. whats the other one?

The mil funeral was a troll? hurumph. I wasted 2 minutes of my life giving my opinion on that and now it's gone poooof?

Why? Even if op was taking the piss, the idea of what to do in such a situation was surely worth keeping around?

Or did things turn nasty?
