to have voted for the BNP today

and feel that I should keep it a secret (have name changed obviously) for fear of being lynched!!

It is a perfectly legal party that has been totally demonised in the media. I was even worried that I may be able to be traced from my ballot paper but I took the risk and voted for them because all the other parties are the bloody same and none of them have the guts to sort this country out. Suppose I'll never get to heaven now .

Rhu - I know what you mean. I've always voted either Shitty Pants or Weed Smokers (aka Greens) or both, because I can't stand Lab or Con (aren't they like a softened version of the BNP, in that they pretend not to be The Nasty Party, but once they're in power the claws are revealed...).

I'm not an extreme lefty so would never vote Socialist. Having read all the main party manifestos at the last election I decided that The Shitters would be at least as crap as Lab/ Con - crap in a different way, but not crapper. So why not?

Sad when it comes to that, isn't it?

londonone · 05/06/2009 14:11

clemette - you are kidding right? Academies, SATs, over crowded curriculum etc etc

Kimi · 05/06/2009 14:13

Barnsley, All I was saying was that all the people who waste the chance for change can not sit and moan at the wrong out come, I am not saying voting for the BMP was right, and I think my sister would have preferred being fed chocolate cake to being raped any day TBH.

And yes there is a lot of unhappiness and discord in the UK at the moment, and people like to put blame on something so at the moment it is the immigrants, so I think the BNP will pick up votes by unhappy angry people who will pick up ONE bit of there manifesto such as British jobs for British workers and not bother about the rest.

I'm fucked if they get in as I have Irish, Italian and Romany ancestry, and my children have Jewish ancestry on their Dads side, wonder where we would get sent back too?

daftpunk · 05/06/2009 14:18

hope not rhubarb...the UKIP are just the tories with bollocks...so god help us.

barnsleybelle · 05/06/2009 14:20

Sorry Kimi... i read it to understand that you thought voting for BNP was better than not voting at all.

The rape/chocolate cake was something i actually heard come out of the mouth of a BNP supporter spouting his nonsense through a loud haler in our local town last week.

I was so totally incensed my friend had to stop me from going over and hitting him.

londonone · 05/06/2009 14:23

really barnsley - you actually heard the rape choclate thing yourself? Are you sure?

clemette · 05/06/2009 14:23

The Tories introduced the SATs (1991). They also introduced GM schools - the precursors to the Academies. Finally, they introduced the old national Curriculum. The new one is massively stipped down.
Are you sure you are a teacher??

londonone · 05/06/2009 14:26

Clemette - Yes hence me saying the tories no better on education. Labour have maintained SATs rather than getting rid, New nat curric for primary still crap, Academies far more dangerous than GM schools, not too mention the intro of cover supervisors and the subsequent deprofessionalisation of teaching. I'm certainly a teacher are you sure you are?

frAKKINPannikin · 05/06/2009 14:28

YANBU

If you really want to vote for them and truly support your policies then that is your right. We live in a democracy, you can vote for you who you want. If you want to tell people you voted for them and why then that is also your right. We live in a society where free speech is permitted and protected. You have the right to your own opinion and the right to have that opinion heard ? and without some of the abuse that?s been directed at you on here.

However, personally, I don?t agree with you and if the BNP ever end up running the country I will be relinquishing my citizenship. I tried every way I could to vote in these elections but as I'm registered to vote in another European country I wasn't allowed to. I truly believe my vote would have counted much more in the UK than it will here.

minush · 05/06/2009 14:29

Shame on you

barnsleybelle · 05/06/2009 14:30

londonone... I swear to god i did. Unbelievable. He was out spouting through the loud haler, was talking some nonsense about putting the man back in charge of the house and went on to say... " at the end of the day rape is no worse than force-feeding a woman chocolate cake". Not sure if he was serious.. (the only people taking much notice were a handful of men), if it was said for effect or what. He said it though and i wanted to hit him. Never felt so furious in my life.

londonone · 05/06/2009 14:33

hmmmm - that seems unlikely TBH barnsley as IME the BNP like to try to keep their outward image fairly clean and they actually kicked out the guy who said that. All sound a bit urban myth to me!

minush · 05/06/2009 14:38

....... And what frAKKINPannikin said

Did you just name change because of fear of being tarred and feathered or because you are ashamed of having voted for an openly racist party who have said (among other things) that only white people can be truly British (I think the word they used was 'ethnically'. Then they turn around and say they are not racist!

If the first reason, I would say you should have the courage of your (erroneous) convictions.

In either case, and although it may have been a protest vote you have voted for an openly racist (fact), brutish and scumfilled party whose increased share of the vote will harm our country (my opinion)

minush · 05/06/2009 14:45

Does anyone else think that the timing of the MPs expenses expose was deliberte on the part of the telegraph, with the aim being to undermine Brown further, possibly force an early general election and in the meantime garner lots of anti immigration and anti european protest votes at the Euro and Local elections thus forcing Cameron (and Lab) further to the right on these issues?

Phew, sorry for long sentence, trying to do too many things at once.

Or ..... Do you think it was just to sell papers

Or possibly a selfless act by a crusading press baron with a genuine desire to clean up Parl. politics?

minush · 05/06/2009 14:48

just noticed all the mistakes in posts. Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Right, I'm going to try to read this thread as I only read the original post. This is a really important and interesting subject.

barnsleybelle · 05/06/2009 14:50

londoone... I take great offence at your comment... I have said i heard it, not that it was passed on to me. Instead of your "hmmm that seems unlikely" and your "sounds a bit urban myth to me", why don't you come right out and call me a liar.

I'm many things, am most certainly not perfect, but one thing i don't do is tell lies.

londonone · 05/06/2009 14:57

Well it doesn't really matter does it it's an anonymous website where you can say what you like. I have seen many people swear blind to have seen/heard things first hand that are well known urban legends. So no I don't believe you.

spokette · 05/06/2009 14:58

Commerations services etc are underway to remember those who fell on the Normandy beaches for the D-Day Landings.

Those who vote BNP besmirch the memory of those who died to fight the tyranny of racism, genocide and the destruction of democracy.

It is because they overcome the tyranny of the Nazies and their supporters why we live in a free society and perversely, that gives the likes of the OP to vote for whom she chooses, including the BNP.

Will the BNP uphold the values that the D-Day veterans won for us? Absolutely not.

The OP and her ilk shame the memory of WW2 veterans and I really don't know how they can even look at themselves in the mirror without feeling utter disgust. Well I can. They are selfish, self-indulgent, sociopathic ignoramuses who think that the world should revolve around their small-minded desires.

clemette · 05/06/2009 15:01

londonone, perhaps it is a sector difference. I teach secondary where SATs have been scrapped, cover supervisors mean we don't have the huge cover load of the past, and academies mean our less able students have the opportunities to pursue vocational education rather than trying to force them all through a system that doesn't suit them.
Lower key OFSTED, more autonomy in the curriculum, and more flexible exam system and better pay and conditions. It is not perfect, but in the secondary sector things are much, much better than they wer under the Tories.

londonone · 05/06/2009 15:03

Well I guess we'll agree to disagree on that!

clemette · 05/06/2009 15:21

barnsleybelle, I can well believe it. Those at the top are trying to be polished but those at grassroots are the ones with the "passion" to spout that sort of shit.

Hitler was polished. When he came to power he purged the SA (his bully boys) in order to get rid of those tarnishing the image of his party.

barnsleybelle · 05/06/2009 15:24

Thankyou clemette..
Not sure why anyone would think i could just invent hearing it.
He said it, i heard it... simple as.

londonone · 05/06/2009 15:30

I think it's the fact that it is not one of their policies combined with the fact that it has been really widely discussed on MN that makes it seem rather too convenient. Sorry.

pingping · 05/06/2009 15:41

YABU you voted for a party that you clearly don't know all the ins and outs of... All they will do for this country is cause racial hate.

I for one read up on every party went to websites to see what they were about and The BNP site made me sick to my stomach. They are degrading to everyone barr White English men. They are disgrace and anyone who voted for them just by chance because they didn't like the other parties should be ashamed of themselves.

The worse thing is alot of people will be like OP and do the same thing.

If people don't like other parties then they shouldn't of voted espeically on a wim.

OP I don't know what you wanted to achieve out of this thread its been clear to the run up to elections how people felt about the BNP on mumsnet plenty of threads about them so you are either very dim or trying to cause trouble or a Troll
