to think Mumset is a whole lot better post-Mouldiegate?

Genuine observation here, not trying to stir anything. It just seems a lot less cliquey and bum-licky. My replies are recognised and appreciated. I hope newbies feel welcomed and that there isn't some barrier that you have to cross in order to become 'popular'.

Well?

I think it's because I saw someone with that username on a different forum years ago, who was from Glasgow. I actually messaged them and said "Ooh, I used to live in Edinburgh, it's lovely up there, isn't it?"- like there were only about 50 people on the bloody internet and it was a massive co-incidence or something... I still cringe at the memory - but I was new to 'pooters

BitOfFun · 22/05/2009 12:14

Pass it on to screamingabdab then...frontloading- pmsl, haven't heard that in years

AitchTwoOh · 22/05/2009 12:14

but it's so wishy-washy, this 'ooooh, everyone has to feel cuddled when they get her' business. there are sites like that, lord knows, and they make me want to puke. everything gravitates towards the mean, and you get boring threads and bad advice.

not everyone's contribution IS equal [controversial]. tiktok's advice, welliemum's advice, the HR lot, the estate agents, the teachers, the SALTs etc etc, the whole point on here is that some people really know their stuff and we all benefit from that hugely. cod got plenty of you lot off speeding fines, for example.

AitchTwoOh · 22/05/2009 12:15

i very much like your name screamingabdab. you're not new, anyway, you've been around for a while.

BitOfFun · 22/05/2009 12:16

Cod sent me a lovely message on twitter last night - cheered me right up

BitOfFun · 22/05/2009 12:16

Ooh, is twitter the new moldies?

VinegarTits · 22/05/2009 12:16
TrillianAstra · 22/05/2009 12:17

Oooh, get you, 'I got a message from Cod, aren't I special?'

Dumbledoresgirl · 22/05/2009 12:18

Aitch - agree cuddliness is not needed on this site. There are plenty of places to go for that.

But a little more egality hasn't harmed the place. I still remember one of my first posts being pointblank ignored by one Mner, now Moldie. And I was offering a compliment! Would she have been so rude in a face to face situation? I rather suspect she might have been.

BitOfFun · 22/05/2009 12:18

Only 5 on mine, Vinny [smug]

VinegarTits · 22/05/2009 12:18

Cod still comes on MN, have seen her mention recent threads on twitter

she never sends me messages on it though

BitOfFun · 22/05/2009 12:18

< giggle >

AitchTwoOh · 22/05/2009 12:19

aye, well dg, some people are just rude.

Lizzylou · 22/05/2009 12:20

No Aitch, I agree there were/are plenty of experts in different fields on MN.
You don't expect a cuddle, but it is nice to feel acknowledged and not, well left out in the cold. (Sorry Screamingabdab )

daftpunk · 22/05/2009 12:20
screamingabdab · 22/05/2009 12:20

Thank you everyone - that was so sincere

I have been on since Feb. but it probably seems longer as I
am dangerously obsessed so prolific

VinegarTits · 22/05/2009 12:21

5? did you loose one? tis standard 3 points for driving offences innit? i got caught speeding twice in the last yr

or have you picked up points for some other driving offence we have not heard about?

daftpunk · 22/05/2009 12:21
TrillianAstra · 22/05/2009 12:22

at dangerously obsessed

jasper · 22/05/2009 12:22

yes. Fewer cliques and bullies.
I could not stand it here for a while

BitOfFun · 22/05/2009 12:23

I was driving very very fast and they thought three wasn't hard enough on me

Lizzylou · 22/05/2009 12:23

Thanks DP, it's bloody freezing in Lancashire.
And my broadband is down and dongle is very slow (hence posting very similar to DG 2 mins later)

AitchTwoOh · 22/05/2009 12:23

it is nice to feel acknowledged... and again imo it's a function of the site getting bigger.
when i joined there was much more in the way of making a point of laughing at good jokes and if someone made a particularly thoughtful post there would be a run of 'good post' etc. that hardly happens now. (it did just happen with makeda but i think that was crawling myself. )

AitchTwoOh · 22/05/2009 12:24

plus the acknowledgement thing is why so many people are on those ghastly chat threads. they're ruining mn, i tell you.
