to get annoyed every time I receive a bill from BT?

As I find it incomprehensible. I have no idea what I am paying for however long I study it for. I wonder whether this is deliberate.

YA definitely not BU ... which is why we have got rid of them completely , and are now with sky.

We didn't really understand quite what we were paying for either . We were even charged £5 to send us a bill .

Kimi · 14/05/2009 18:07

This is why DH1 went to sky

tvaerialmagpiebin · 14/05/2009 18:09

YANBU. It is a total load of tosh.
Why can't they just have

  • list of calls you made and total value
  • cost of line rental
-subtotal
  • list of discounts e.g. friends and family, paperfree billing
  • total to pay
  • add Vat
  • voila

Every time I get one I vow to change provider but since I hardly ever use the landline it doesn't seem worth it.

TheCrackFox · 14/05/2009 18:19

I have to admit I am getting to the end of my tether with them. Their bill is meaningless.
Moreover, today they announced that they are cutting their workforce by 15,000 so we can expect their customer service (or lack of) to get even crapper.

purpleduck · 14/05/2009 18:23

Thats why we got rid of them too
strange system

elvislives · 14/05/2009 19:04

Oh me too. What gets me is the calls only represent about 1/3 of the bill. We really need to get shot of them.

motherlovebone · 14/05/2009 19:36

yanbu, they take the piss.

will get rid as soon as poss, am 6 months into an 18 month contract.

customer service is the worst ive ever experienced.

paying 2 months broadband at a time. wtf is that about.

poopscoop · 14/05/2009 19:38

i have them just for line rental, so the quarterly bill is about £52, but what pisses me off is the £4.50 charge to pay I pay on line so no work involved and i am paper free. Theiving bastards.

poopscoop · 14/05/2009 19:38

thieving (sp)

PuppyMonkey · 14/05/2009 19:40

Yes, the £4.50 payment processing fee scam really really annoys me... penalising you because you use your free will to NOT sign up to Direct Debit with them. I'm too lazy to go and find a better company though tbh..

Goober · 14/05/2009 19:42

If you are easily offended please don't scroll down.

They are CUNTS.

(I did warn you)

Worldsworstmummy · 14/05/2009 19:43

As opposed to any other blood sucking utility bill? still reeling from £800 electicity update.

poopscoop · 14/05/2009 19:50

not offended in the least goober. No other word would do them justice

Goober · 14/05/2009 19:53

Splendid!

FlyMeToDunoon · 14/05/2009 20:03

I agree totally.
So who are good to be with then?
How are those of you with sky finding it?

PlumBumMum · 14/05/2009 20:07

Last 2 bills I've been on the phone for an explaination all this paying in advance drives me ffffffing mad

MrsFogi · 14/05/2009 20:22

Glad I'm not the only one. Every time I get a bill I intend to move but I'm not sure that I can bear the hassle of changing internet provider. Anyone who has internet through another company that has turned out to be plug and play with a Mac please let me know the company.
I'd ring and ask for an explanation but I'm not sure where to start (in terms of I'd need the entire bill explained) and the last time I tried to call them it took about a week to get through.
Worldsworstmummy - at least you can understand what you are being charged for on the utility bill and challenge it as it is clear if something is amiss.

We find sky superb . We have sky tv, broadband, calls and line rental all as a package. We have saved a fortune

poopscoop · 14/05/2009 20:36

i have aol phone and tinternet. all good here. £9.99 per month tinternet (anytime)and 7.99 month calls (anytime but mobiles extra)

BT for line rental only

FlyMeToDunoon · 14/05/2009 20:56

I actually got an email from BT recently saying they were changing the charge for if you change provider before your term is up, from £18 to £25.
Wonder how long we have to go........

lucky1979 · 14/05/2009 21:15

They are moronic, they've mucked up my direct debit so take nearly 50 a month too much, show my account in credit, then every time I ring them up they tell me they've fixed it and then do it again the next month.

Think we'll end up moving to Virgin for everything - even though their customer service is meant to be shocking as well.

Tigerbear · 14/05/2009 21:22

YANBU - they are total idiots. No idea what the bill means or what sort of 'plan' I am on.
Also, have been meaning to ask the MNers for ages - has anyone else had any problems with 'call divert'? Mine has never worked since they first installed the line in January, and every time I call them (been about 10 calls now), they come up with a different excuse as to why it doesn't work. First it was that they hadn't installed it on my line, then they said it was a fault on the line (and sent an engineer out, who was contracted from another company, and said there wasn't a fault at all), then the final time they said it was a NATIONAL PROBLEM with call divert. Hmmm, I find that v hard to believe, especially as the next time I called them, the member of staff I spoke to had no knowledge of such as 'national problem. Anyone else had this happen, or have they blatantly lied / they have absolutely no idea what the problem is?

Linnet · 14/05/2009 22:30

It bugs me how I pay more on vat and line rental than I do on calls. I once lost my 1571 for no reason that I could fathom and when I called to tell them that it had been removed from my line and to please put it back on again they couldn't tell me why it had been removed in the first place.

Today I came home to two bills, both exactly the same, I'm certainly not paying it twice!

I don't like how they have changed the friends and family now so that you only get money off mobiles or international calls as those are most popular, not in my household they aren't!

oh and last month they called me with an automated message to say that my bill hadn't been paid and was now overdue. I phoned them back to complain because not only had I gone the day before to pay the bill I had paid it a week before the due date so even if I hadn't paid it when I did it wouldn't have been overdue for another 7 days anyway!

Longtalljosie · 15/05/2009 07:58

Lucky1979 they did the exact same thing with us. We never even asked for monthly direct debit, just for our quarterly bill to come out by DD to avoid the handling charge. But for five months solid, they took £44 from our account without asking. We'd ring, they'd recredit and assure us it wouldn't happen again - until it did happen again, the next month. Makes you wonder if it's deliberate... Better for their cashflow if they're in credit...
