to *hate* World of Warcraft?

I know I'm not....
I hate hate hate it.
DH loves it. I have wangled 3 WoW free nights a week but it really galls me that DH would rather spend time on that than in my crabby unpleasant tired delightful, serene company.
I also think they should outgrow it by the time they reach their 20s rather than, in their late 30s/early 40s, meeting up to do 'Naxs' and 'Dungeons' and killing 'bosses' but that's another AIBU

You want to be careful its the only game to have a support thread for giving up. people have lost their jobs, partners I even heard of someone running away with a dwarf. So knowing the game like I do I would say yanbu. We had to force cold turkey on my uncle after loss of job because he didn't want to leave his game in the middle of a battle. We stole the internet modem . I love video games (weird for a girl) but I won't touch it because of how bad it is.

not world of warcrack - but something similar, nearly ruined my marriage - dh had no more than 4 hours sleep a night - and repeatedly told me that he never slept much - he slept fine when twins wanted feeding 12 years earlier.

anyway, it turned itno a dv incident and that was the root of it.

Wilts - the reason i got the 3 nights wow free was cos i told him i'd rather he was having an affair as it would sound better than eI left him cos he was playing this online game'.
custardo - we used to go to bed at 8.30 - 9 but peer pressure got to him and now it's 9.30 if I'm lucky but more likely 10-10.30 and he gets up at 5 then is grumpy in the evening.

wotmania I myself did get addicted to wow it is a hard game to leave and pp does get to you what helped me was someone showed me the support groups and I saw I was hurting my family with wow. In my experience there is no halfway mark you either play or you don't. Show him this site it may help him to see how dangerous the game is.www.wowdetox.com/

I think we're okay atm, he's cut down loads but was really bad this time last year. i'll show him that site though, thanks for the link..

I think that it sounds quite amusing to people on the outside, but it is the main reason we argue.

He is now down to three nights a week for 'raids'? ( which go on to until the early hours. But that doesn't mean he is WOW free the other nights.

Actually I should just shut up now as it winds me right up even talking about it

yup people don't get it cos 'it's only a game'.
DH plays it with all his friends from wargaming club who he also happens to work with. But his WoW free nights are now WoW free - he used to get DS2 off to sleep while playingbut DS1 wanted to be down with Daddy too and when DD turned u it was merry hell. These days he gets the boys to sleep in their room and then on WoW free nights comes downstairs to me rather than switching it off once DS wa asleep.
I mainly get fed up with having one-sided conversations he never remembers the next day/week.
You know, the ones that go 'no you can't on that saturday. We're going to X.'
'you never told me'
'I did, thursday night, and you told me you'd remember'
'really?'
'yes'
cue sheepish grin on his part.
We have got a better balance now though. I just have to occasionally get nasty.

It seems to me to be a latter-day equivalent of collecting bus or train numbers....

SEA - I once gave him a taste of his own medicine (watered down) I sat on MN, facebook and Ravelry for a whole half hour . He wasn't impressed and had the gall to tell me what I was doing was 'pointless' as obviously WoW is a worthwhile thing to do.

He claims it helps him relax staring at a screen...we used to cuddle and read (Wheel of Time sci-fi geeks that we are)or play cards.

ROFL @ WoW addiction when there are clearly many people with MN addiction!

YABU to hate the game - it is fun.

YANBU to hate your DP spending too much time on it, or neglecting the family because of it etc.

DH plays a similar game that has something to do with zombies but has cut back to a couple of hours a week, which i can cope with, as i'm mn ing. however, it still winds me up to hear him barking orders at his 'troops' over his headset. 'guys, guys, guys, 4th quarter' - i want to brain him!!

wotmania....I feel your pain! I have 4 out of 7 nights a week free of WOW. I hate it and hate it even more when DH feels the need to discuss tactics or what 'raid items' he's won or needs, with me - I'd rather drill a hole in my head!!
I now just use the WOW nights as 'me' time otherwise I would get so irritated by it that I'd become a hag nag!
It IS just a game and luckily DH will log off if I ask him to (so don't think we're too bad...yet!!) but otherwise he is always online 'checking the auction house' or whatever if he's not actually raiding or doing 'instances'.

BigBella I know it sound a bit funny, but I think there are people addicted to MN !

I think that if I did not keep a close eye on myself, and was allowed to get away with it by DH, I could become addicted, in the sense of spending time on it, when I should be doing other things, choosing to be on it over talking to my family, getting a buzz out of it, relating more to MN friends than RL ones etc .....

My DH is 51 and I have only today posted a thread about him being unreasonable... I not entirely sure if he is, or if it's that I'm jealous that he hogs the pc. He is actually inconsiderate in other ways too.....

I am pretty addicted to MN - it's not good! And there are people who are on here all day every day - I'm sure loads of us are addicted.

Sorry, meant to add - that's an addiction, or at least, an obsession. If other people are telling you it is affecting them , and you are not listening, then it is a problem.

I also get the 'I am just checking the post' thing as well. I usually get warning if DH intends to wear a headset as it drives me bonkers to hear him blabbering on down it
