There is a man who lives across the road from us who insists on parking at the side of my house, on the pavement right up to my side fence. He is a pita tbh, as he blocks the whole pavement which means people have to walk on the road to get past his car. Several people have politely asked him to be more considerate over the years but he never listens to anyone.

DS loves playing football but always plays in our garden. this morning he was in the garden playing and he must have done a very hard kick because he accidently kicked the ball over the side fence, which is 7ft high. the ball bounce on the roof of neighbours car but didn't cause any damage at all.

A few minutes later the man is banging on my front door and yelling about phoning the police if it happens again!

I know its not great to have a ball hit your car but I can't help thinking its his own blooming fault and serves him right for being so inconsiderate when he parks his car

you can report him to the police for blocking the pavement, there has to be enough room for a pram and a mobility scooter to get past.

onagar · 02/05/2009 14:32

I'd have no sympathy for him.

Even if he was supposed to be parking there he still shouldn't be yelling about something that was an accident.

ShowOfHandsNoLongerKissesKunes · 02/05/2009 14:33

Tell him to phone the police, they'll tell him off for blocking the pavement.

fruitshootsandheaves · 02/05/2009 14:37

He sounds like a nice neighbour!

In the dark tonight go out stick loads of balls on his car with blue tack.

TheCrackFox · 02/05/2009 14:37

I'm with ShowofHands, tell him to phone the police. Hopefully they will do him for wasting police time.

PM73 · 02/05/2009 14:37

Call his bluff, ring the police & they will get him to move his car.

memoo · 02/05/2009 14:38

No no no .....In the dark tonight pore paint stripper over his car, Of some nice deep scratches along the side.

stupid sod, I hate people like this.
I have lost count of the amount of cars parked on the sodding pavement that now have scratches from where I have to squeese my mothers wheelchair past them

lou222 · 02/05/2009 14:40

If he's been doing this for years then why wait. Call the police now and get it sorted. It's really selfish of him

memoo · 02/05/2009 14:43

do you know what, I am going to call the police now! I have the number of the local station.

I know its not just me who is sick to death of him, all the neighbours would back me up I'm sure

Phone the police and make a formal complaint about him yelling at you and about him parking on the pavement.

lou222 · 02/05/2009 15:10

good, let us know how you get on.

foxytocin · 02/05/2009 15:14

If his car is still there, take a photo of how it is parked up on the curb. A photo on a mobile phone is good. Then just keep it there. Just in case.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/05/2009 18:57

agree this man is a twat

why cant he park by his house?

ring your local police station or contact your local council and ask them to send a traffic warden round to ticket him - and say you couldnt pass on the pavement with your buggy/wheelchair - and he will be given a ticket

Jaypickle · 03/05/2009 11:56

And if he does park there again, get him another ticket, until he crawls back under the rock he spawned from.

pmsl at fruitshoots (love the name as well - were you someone else?)

katiestar · 03/05/2009 22:27

he shouldn't be parking there .Can you take photos and send to the traffic dept at your local police station ?
However your Question is was it the guys fault that your DS's football hit his car.I don't think it was.If it had been a baby in a pushchair on the pavement would it have been the parent's fault?

PadDad · 04/05/2009 08:04

Pavement parking's not illegal right across the country. It's illegal in some places.

stoppinattwo · 04/05/2009 08:20

it is illegal if it is blocking a footpath that doesnt form part of a homezone area. You are forcing pedestrians into the road which is obviously dangerous.

You are obstructing which is an offence...same as you cant just dump a skip on the footpath or the highway.

memoo...although it would be very satisfying to do, dont do anything to his car , just let him know you have phoned the police for him, you could also report him to the traffic section of the local council, they have wardens who will ticket him if he is parked up on the footpath.

You could take some photos of his car too just incase he decides to say that your sone has done damamge to his car, you dont know what bumps and scapes he might "invent" depends on what sort of a clapped out old banger he has!!!

stoppinattwo · 04/05/2009 08:21

lol Son and damage ofcourse

wotulookinat · 04/05/2009 09:02
