You can subtly alter your diet and follow the Shettles method but imo is has to be done light-heartedly. The key motivator has to be that you want another child, irrespective of gender, and it just might be interesting to see if you can influence the outcome but ultimately it makes no difference iyswim. It was the attitude I took with ttc no2.

YANBU, but it may not work! Personally, I'd go for charting your cycle so you have some idea when ovulation is, and then trying to time sex to be during the fertile period but not on the day before or day of ovulation (or afterwards). I don't believe there are any good studies to back up this theory, I just personally find the proposed mechanism slightly more convincing than some other theories .

I understand what you mean. It sounds totally shallow but I do enjoy shopping for my dd, yet it is my ds who loves coming with me & who is a sensitive soul. DD is my mucky, mayhem-causing, shopping-hating imp! The last store we went to, she was carried out over my shoulder!

Do you think you will be gutted if it is not a dd? It was interesting for us just to see if we could influence the outcome but we weren't so bothered/or at least wouldn't allow ourselves to get to that point of being bothered - maybe because we only did it for a couple of weeks and conceived immediately. Maybe if ppl try for months they'd feel differently though?

We didn't, for eg, find out the sex as we knew we wouldn't feel 'disappointed' or need to 'come to terms'. It was enough to be having another child. In fact dh announced on her arrival it was another boy only to be told by the mw to look again! Think he was looking at the cord

I know thats the mad thing! I just want a healthy brother or sister for my LO but it will be interesting having a go at the diet and tablet thing.

You know the one about positions for conception, don't you? Allegedly sperm (sperms?) that have 'boy chromasome' (or whatever, my science is rather rusty) swim fast and then get tired quickly while sperm that have 'girl chromasome' swim slower but have more stamina. So missionary position supposedly increases likelihood of boy babies and women on top is more likely to produce girl babies... so I have heard, I'm saying no more than that in vouching for it's science-truthiness... ;)

I have 3 boys, and if any of them had been a girl it would have been nice....however...I always had a Baby because I wanted another child, rather than a certain sex....
