Anyone watching????
we're being subjected to a 6 yr old from Cbeebies planting seeds!
at 8.40pm!
on a supposedly serious gardening programme.

YABVU - for some us that is complex stuff

HellHathNoFury · 17/04/2009 20:43

lol

Tanee58 · 17/04/2009 20:43

I'm not watching but anything that might persuade parents to involve their children to garden from an early age has got to be good?

ingles2 · 17/04/2009 20:43

no-one watching then
I'll go and be gobsmacked elsewhere then

The BBC is cutting costs, didn't you know?

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 17/04/2009 20:44

Ingles, I'm so with you on this.

I'm not watching, just wondering whether to bother finding it on catch up telly.

I don't think watching a 6 year old plant seeds is what Gardeners' World should be about.

ingles2 · 17/04/2009 20:45

I totally agree Tanee. But this is the only decent gardening programme on TV.
Cbeebies has one it seems.

OP posts:
ingles2 · 17/04/2009 20:46

you've got to watch it MaryMofC, because it's so incredible!
I've got to go and scrape dh's chin from the floor!

Personally I'd always rather watch Monty Don planting anything, but in his absence, I guess they have to get what they can get ...

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 17/04/2009 20:48

There are plenty of opportunities to talk to parents about getting kids involved with gardening. But GW is supposed to be for "proper" gardening, so it's rather preaching to the converted to go on and on about how important it is to get everyone involved.

Match of the Day doesn't have to have a "community football" section does it, or "this week on your local playing field". No, it's about top football. Which should be GW's approach. But not about football, obviously.

ingles2 · 17/04/2009 20:48

I saw the programme and the thread last week and totally agreed but now they've sunk to new lows....
A real shame...
If you ever see this Monty or Mrs Monty,,, please come back!

Oh god it's too depressing.

I don't think i can bring myself to watch after reading this.

ingles2 · 17/04/2009 20:50

Please watch and then come and moan with me

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 17/04/2009 20:52

Sorry, would love to join you but DH and DS hogging the telly to watch a re-run of the Easter Dr Who.

And frankly i'd rather poke myself in the eye with a haddock

Tanee58 · 17/04/2009 20:53

Ok - I haven't watched Gardener's World for some time - DP is watching something on BBC4 - but I might just try to catch this one on catchup later - it does sound like something more suited to the Blue Peter garden - but does that still exist?

ingles2 · 17/04/2009 20:53

Dr Who... much better option.
There's a feature on gnomes now

kitkatqueen · 17/04/2009 20:54

I have to admit to switching channels a doing a ftw? Any minute I was expecting jelly and Jackson to pop out or some other miscellaneous puppet!

The little girl was lovelly and I hope she gets a job on cbeebies, my daughter would have loved to have watched her planting seeds - I on the other hand have spent much of the last week doing exactley that with my dds and would like to watch adult tv now!!!! Grrrr!!!

Sorry feel better now!

ingles2 · 17/04/2009 20:55

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 17/04/2009 20:57

Gnomes?

Oh dear lord.

See, that's what's wrong with our country. Can't do an proper programme any more, got to go for the lowest common denominator.

ingles2 · 17/04/2009 20:57
