BBC Gardens illustrated podcast
Thank you GrendelsMum.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the new format is utter bobbins.

I'm all for involving the kids, but surely that is what Cbeebies and Cbbc is for....

....And as for the new "totty's" potting shed with her lovely spotty tablecover on the bench......ppffffshshshhhs

bring back Alan Titchmarsh

and that we don't get the Beechgrove Garden in England. I used to love watching it and even visited once (it wasn't as big as it looks on the telly)

GentleOtter · 18/04/2009 10:27

Beechgrove used to be quite good years ago when it was the original garden within the grounds of BBC Scotland in Aberdeen.
They reliably told you when and how to chit potatoes, what types were good for which soil (although they were not adverse to lobbing down really wild chemicals), sowing times for Scotland, how to take cuttings, care of fruit trees and bushes... the list goes on.
It was down to earth and non showy. No new potting sheds, instant results, oneupmanship or egos and you felt you had learned something from the programme.

It was never right after the girl with the large painted nails appeared.

GracieGrace · 18/04/2009 10:29

ny sister used to live aroudn the corner from beechgrove

kingprawnjalfrezi · 18/04/2009 10:49

Used to be avid watcher (of Monty mainly). Glad i'm not the only one to think it has gone downhill. Had to channel hop when poppy tinkerbell, or whatever her name was, was giving me advice, and dh commented on the 'hot or not' wall being stolen from top-gear.

LackaDAISYcal · 18/04/2009 11:09

my dh said it was top gear for gardeners as well!

it was the original beechgrove i visited....ummmmm 25 years ago!

BobtheWoodmouse · 18/04/2009 13:17

It was awful last night, gnomes and child presenters, what a load of crap, shan't be watching it anymore. DH is devoted to GW but even he balked last night, whole hour of lightweight platitudes. Very disappointing.

Thanks for the link Otter. Am looking forward to listening to those.
