as you were ladies.

OP posts:
Stayingsunnygirl · 19/04/2009 18:25

Is your room shaped like a letter of the alphabet, Bigmouth?

And again - apologies if this has already been done:

I am a very high up civil servant, in line for the top job, everyone thinks. AIBU to leave my job and join a convent?

BalloonSlayer · 19/04/2009 18:26

No it would be a far far better thing to do as you have suggested.

TheScatterGunApproach · 19/04/2009 18:26

Another! (Sorry if I am hogging this thread).

My dear friend faces the prospect of being put to death unless he can pass off my written works as his own.

I don't expect to live for much longer myself, and am also expecting a family.

TheScatterGunApproach · 19/04/2009 18:30

Balloonslayer may we have more clues for your two? Schtumped!

MoominMymbleandMy · 19/04/2009 18:31

llandb, yes, indeed I should be glad - at least no one gave me the Gift of the Magi.

Scattergun, forget the soppy pair, it would be a far, far better thing to throw yourself into a hobby - like knitting.

And Bigmouth, might this poky room be L-shaped?

salome64 · 19/04/2009 18:33

Yeah but Moomin, when it comes to knitting, location is all important, Non?

BalloonSlayer · 19/04/2009 18:36

OK...

my 16:52... my daughter also seems to have become an eccentric collector. Last week she brought home a large delapidated clock and spent quite a lot of time getting it into the loft. I'd love to know what she was doing with it - unfortunately I have a gammy leg and can't get up there.

The other one
I wonder if the illegal immigrant may be working as an upholster. There appears to be a large chair also in the shed, which at times has some decorative fringes at the top, but they are so beautifully and cleverly made that at other times they don't seem to be there at all - presumably hidden by the worker's skill?

MoominMymbleandMy · 19/04/2009 18:36

Indeed Salome, ringside seat no less!

BalloonSlayer, your two are intriguing but mystifying, more clues, please.

BalloonSlayer · 19/04/2009 18:42

urrrgh

upholsterer

TheScatterGunApproach · 19/04/2009 18:53

Alas, still stumped.

Stayingsunnygirl, any chance of further clues on the civil servant/convent..?

salome64 · 19/04/2009 18:56

hallo, back from party pick up...why do people offer wine at these things???

Stayingsunnygirl · 19/04/2009 19:06

Well, TheScatterGunApproach - the fact that I speak Japanese will come in handy, but a nugget of gold holds the clue to the biggest tragedy in my life.

Pogleswood · 19/04/2009 19:28

Stayingsunny, this is one of my fave books of all time - apart from the ''picking up gold and silver'' which gets me every time.Your name is Philippa ,yes? i think you are right to join the convent, but be prepared for a difficult time!

salome64 · 19/04/2009 19:31

hats off to you, Pogle, but what is the book? let us in on the secret!

Pogleswood · 19/04/2009 19:32

Ok - hope I'm right! In This House Of Brede,by Rumer Godden

TheScatterGunApproach · 19/04/2009 19:33

C'mon, who is going to have a go at mine?

My dear friend faces the prospect of being put to death unless he can pass off my written works as his own.

I don't expect to live for much longer myself, and am also expecting a family.

salome64 · 19/04/2009 19:35

Goes on the To Read Next List...!

salome64 · 19/04/2009 19:36

Oh Scatter, feel I should know!

bigmouthstrikesagain · 19/04/2009 19:49

sorry bedtime duties - yes all those who said/ implied 'The L shaped room' were indeed correct!

TheScatterGunApproach · 19/04/2009 19:49

My written works are only one or two words long.

One of them is 'Terrific'.

Stayingsunnygirl · 19/04/2009 19:52

In this house of Brede - spot on!!

MoominMymbleandMy · 19/04/2009 20:16

You lot have been busy, ... and cryptic.

BalloonSlayer, this chair your DCs are concealing, does it have anything to do with wishing?

MoominMymbleandMy · 19/04/2009 20:18

Scatter, inspiration strikes...finally. I think your friend is called Wilbur!

TheScatterGunApproach · 19/04/2009 20:20

Hooray! Hooray!

MoominMymbleandMy · 19/04/2009 20:22

Ha, that hurt. I shall treat myself now. AIBU to reopen a Victorian murder mystery from my hospital bed?
