AIBU to have nicknamed myself on MN after my cats...

Would using a nickname based in some way on my DS have been more appropriate? Sadly, when choosing my nickname, my cats came to mind first! (I don't cope well with that kind of pressure, me)

How did other people choose their nicknames?

Not sure how mine came about...........

CatHerder · 16/04/2009 14:44

Well, I'm normally Fruitful, because I was told I wouldn't have any more children and I objected!

But this week is half-term week ...

TrillianAstra · 16/04/2009 14:45

YANBU. It's more original than using DCs names.

I'm a character from a book.

JustCallMeGoat · 16/04/2009 14:45

the general consensus is that names with 'mum' in are crappy.

catherder - i like your name

littlelamb · 16/04/2009 14:45

I am a much battered soft toy

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 16/04/2009 14:47

CatHerder - I like your name too.

It puts a brilliant picture in my mind.

MipPieMum · 16/04/2009 14:47

Oohh, will have to name-change to remove the 'Mum' part! Still maintain that it was panic induced by the pressure of thinking of something witty....

Part of my name I use on another forum but I didn't want to use same name on here as someone in RL knows I hang out on here.

So I adapted it slightly.

RustyBear · 16/04/2009 14:49

Don't think there are any actual rules.

Like little lamb, I'm named after a soft toy - a little bear my mum made for me to take in my pocket on my first day at school.

MrsMagooo · 16/04/2009 14:50

Nowt wrong with that - mine is booooooooooring & I so want a change but can think of nothing witty/interesting/funny!

Cosmosis · 16/04/2009 14:55

Mine is also cat related

moshie · 16/04/2009 14:58

I'm named after a fictional cat, from a book I loved in primary school.
Would love a witty name though!

juneybean · 16/04/2009 15:08

My name is from my tropical catfish (corydoras). Obviously dcs were far down on my list of priorities.

PinkBubblesGoApe · 16/04/2009 15:56

Nicked mine from one of DHs cd's...

chocolateismyonlyweakness · 16/04/2009 16:36

I couldn't call myself poppycat because it's already been taken! Then I wanted PheasantPlucker, couldn't have that either, so I just copied something from lark Rise to Candleford but using chocolate.

But Gok is gay!! He won't marry you ...

Ah!! but a girl can dream can't she

Anyway I don't mind being a beard

YanknCock · 16/04/2009 18:42

I was originally my RL first name followed by year of birth. Then was told 'first name posters don't last' so decided to change.

This is the name DH and I came up with when we first did the local pub quiz. Sounds filthy, and has made some MNers wonder if they should pity my DH/offer me a sex guide, but it comes from my being a Yankee and DH being a Cockney (and I like a bit of filth).
