to still feel a tiny bit hacked off that I was found lacking by a certain "rival" website?

I have my suspicions what the reasons were for my rejection but won't go into them because I don't want to disclose who I am.

And yes I do know for a fact that I was vetoed, not "accidentally left out".

OP posts:
Peachy · 31/03/2009 23:07

VS diodnt go, she is cutting back on posting severely though and in limited places.

thsi has come up agaion- OP if youre really sad I am sorry,, its horrid to feel unwanted but its probably not the best palce for this now; start a MN blog and pour it out on there (I do LOL) but it needs to be over as so vry many people were hurt.

AitchTwoOh · 31/03/2009 23:07

what? i am being perfectly reasonable. you do understand, don't you, that there is a difference between bringing up a point on a thread with the person and slagging them off behind their back? that's all i'm saying.

if you disagreed with cod about the cake then i have no doubt you expressed that fulsomely and with vigour at the time. however, now that she's not able to defend herself, you really ought to think about moving on and letting it go...

JaquelinehydeAllTheEggs · 31/03/2009 23:08

Funnily enought me and my fat ass (or should that be my fat as and I)don't do cake.

We have however just enjoyed a lovely big bag of Maltesers - it's the lighter way to enjoy chocolate don't you know.

AitchTwoOh · 31/03/2009 23:09

" "

pre-cisely, peachy.

cherryblossoms · 31/03/2009 23:09

Can we change this into a rant about PTAs stuffing parents and dc with cake?

I hate it and find it completely unreasonable.

And the cake's always c* too.

Why is it the parents with the least baking talent that always bring trayfuls of their woeful offerings?

FairLadyRantALot · 31/03/2009 23:12

well, cherry...I have you know I always, or mostly, brng plenty of cake to stalls and I am very good at baking....so...;p

Peachy · 31/03/2009 23:12

AM I bovvered?

Besides I have a 9 year old about to be dx'd anorexic, calories are my friends (If someone posts 'I actually know someone...' btw I am telling truth! not trying to upset anyone!)

ScottishThistle · 31/03/2009 23:13

I made a rather delicious rhubarb and apple crumble today, sorry none left ~ all in the thighs!!!

Who has a fab recipe for a cake that's a bit different???

Peachy · 31/03/2009 23:14

Oi CB my PTA cake is yummy.

Especially my seed cake, I know thisas I ate w hole one (almost) Saturday

TheCrackFox · 31/03/2009 23:14

Cherry, I am always slightly concerned about the Health and Safety implications of PTA cakes. I don't mind eating cakes my snot ridden 3 yr old DS has helped me make but not sure about other peoples 3 yr old snot ridden DCs.

TrillianEAstraEgg · 31/03/2009 23:14

Oh my God, I generally thought the OP had been to Netmums and treate unkindly when I read the title.

I am not wasting any more of my life reading this whole thread, apologies to the posters who I am sure have written many helpful and incisive things.

FairLadyRantALot · 31/03/2009 23:15

oh, and I blame Marslady for my recent cake-eating- orgies....bloody lemon drizzle cake is to good to ignore....

AitchTwoOh · 31/03/2009 23:15

really, peachy? if he gets the dx will there be help for him? (or is that, as ever, the golden question?)

seed cake recipe, please...

Dior · 31/03/2009 23:17

I suspect the OP is making this up being inventive with the truth tbh. If she really was vetoed, why does she not want MNers to know her name on here? Surely the fact that the other site didn't want her makes her a celeb on here .

It seems to me that a few MNers have relished the chance to become king of the hill since the new site, much as they attempt to deride the ones who left.

I think this thread is one big stir up from one of the people who just can't let it all go and move on! There really is a sad amount of vitriol still.

Oh, and finally, Cod always apologises sincerely when she realises she has upset anyone, which I respect her for.

Peachy · 31/03/2009 23:17

'other peoples 3 yr old snot ridden DCs. '

I allow my kids as much input into their cakes as I do their Easter Bonnets and homework!. What sort of Mother do you think I am????( IF I were really doping their homework with the grades I am getting I would have to be spectacularly think, even I cannot fake that many wrong answers and screwed up asnwer sheets!)

MrsMattie · 31/03/2009 23:21

Where is the vitriol on this thread?@Dior

Read the whole thing, please. It is 99% light hearted.

Anyhoo...

Peachy · 31/03/2009 23:21

Seed cake:Ingredients
170g butter
170g caster sugar
3 large eggs
230g self-raising flour
50g ground almonds
1?2 tbsp milk
3 tsp caraway seeds, lightly crushed

I add the zest of a lemon as well (was an accident when making LDC at the same time but was yummy LOL). I just throw it all in as per any other cake- I dontt do techniques.

RE DS1: he's in that referral bit ATM where we keep a weight diary (he's 9 and 3.5 stone, 13th centile IIRC) but saw Paed for DS3 the other day and she hass herself (as his asd diagnosing Paed) and a CAMHs team waiting, school Head s noweating with school doing rewards.... I couldnt be more impressed tbh.

ScottishThistle · 31/03/2009 23:22

Please can I have the "Seed cake recipe"??????????

TheCrackFox · 31/03/2009 23:24

Might try the seed cake recipe this weekend.

Great that DS1 is getting help.

My friends 11 yr old DD has just been DX and she is getting a lot of support. It is very upsetting because she is lovely but just doesn't see it.

cherryblossoms · 31/03/2009 23:25

Peachy - that's awful - i really hope it gets sorted. My bf at school had anorexia, it was grim, though it did get sorted out in the end.

Bit scared about the cake remark now. don't think there's anyone from school on here but you never know .... [nervous laugh] Just trying to be a bit controversial. [second nervous laugh]

AitchTwoOh · 31/03/2009 23:25

that sounds positive, peachy, i hope it all works out.
how long for the cake, what temp?

Peachy · 31/03/2009 23:29

I think I copoked it at 170 but hang on will dig out proper recipe >

Method:
Cream together the butter and sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy then beat the eggs together and add to the butter mix a little at a time, combining thoroughly after each addition. Carefully fold in the flour, ground almonds and caraway seeds. When combined add just enough milk to give the mixture a dropping consistency then spoon into a 1kg loaf tin that's been greased and the base of which has been lined with greaseproof paper.

Place in the centre of an oven pre-heated to 180°C and bake for about 55 minutes, or until the cake begins to shrink away from the sides of the tin and the top is firm to the touch.

Allow to cool in the tin for 10 minutes then turn onto a wire rack and allow to cool completely. Wrap in foil and store until the following day (it's always better eaten the day after it's baked).

there you go

*- my motto is: when it doesn't work, bung it in a bowl top with custard and pretend that's how it was meant to look

Not that i've done that for.... oooh.... 6 hours

(Sam'll be OK; he has a fab school, we caught it early and he has a lot of people fighting his corner. We're lucky)

Peachy · 31/03/2009 23:30

Oh and ice the cake in a coating of butter icing in the manner of that Bake programme woman

naswm · 31/03/2009 23:43

I suspect that the fact that the OP hasnt been back to this thread is becuase she is indeed still upset. And the name change could be to cover her back? Maybe she needs a good old MN {{{{{{}}}}}} ?

AitchTwoOh · 31/03/2009 23:45

thanks, peach, it sounds really nice, cheers for going to the effort to type that all out.
