to still feel a tiny bit hacked off that I was found lacking by a certain "rival" website?

I have my suspicions what the reasons were for my rejection but won't go into them because I don't want to disclose who I am.

And yes I do know for a fact that I was vetoed, not "accidentally left out".

op would your really want to join a clique like that?

daftpunk · 02/04/2009 14:46

DG..actually...i remember how upset you were...sorry.

i suppose because i wasn't friendly with any of the moldies i don't see it as a big deal...not anymore,... from what i've seen all the best people never had anything to do with that site, (plus 90% of the moldies are still here...under one name or another)...so op...honestly, you ain't missing nothing.

DumbledoresGirl · 02/04/2009 14:51

Actually, in the interests of honesty, since typing my last post, I have been wracking my memory and I can't actually remember if I did actually cry. But it took up the vast majority of the Christmas holidays and I certainly cried inside (and do again now, realising how much quality family time I missed!)

morningpaper · 02/04/2009 15:02

Oh I KNOW DG

Next year my presents will be wrapped WITH MUCH MORE CARE

KiwEasterKat · 02/04/2009 15:04

I don't know how I missed the whole thing, but I did, probably because I just pop in and out occasionally, but I've only just found about about it this week. I spent an obscenely long time yesterday trying to find out what had actually happened - not easy when most of the posts had been deleted - before I googled it and read the Indy and the Mail.

But what I would like to say is that no one has the right to say, "ok, you've been miserable about this for four and a half months, which is 3 weeks too long, so get over it." Who made you queen of emotional timetables, DP? We all womble on in these forums about things that make us miserable, in a way we'd never dream of doing in RL. It's completely irrelevant that you and x number of people are bored with the issue - OP's not bored with it, so if she wants to thrash it out, let her. Sometimes that's what you need to do before you can move on.

Dior · 02/04/2009 16:14

I was incredibly hurt when I realised about the second site. I can totally understand that. I didn't cry but I DID feel like shouting, 'What is wrong with me? I have been here nearly 7 years!'

However, I do know a little more now and realise that it was not personal in any way. I was contacted by two Moldies, almost immediately after the info was let slip by Justine, and both were incredibly sorry to see me so hurt.

I do feel that MN is different, BUT for some that is a good thing. MN will continue to evolve and shed members as is the normal way of these things. Give it another year and it will be another 'Remember the red rug' situation!

OP - whoever you are, I do understand your hurt, but this is not getting us anywhere.

DumbledoresGirl · 02/04/2009 16:22

Dior, just looked at your profile. That cross stitch of your grandmother is amazing. Do you mind me asking how you did it and how easy it is to do? I can handle cross stitch with the help of my MIL, but how did you transfer the photo onto the canvas and how did you get the shading right?

redsock · 02/04/2009 16:42

`She wears frosted lipstick and once said something derogatory about Boden.'

Thats funny

It is lovely isnt it Fio? I have a photo of my grandmother as a young woman - Dior's picture is similar in many ways - and I would love to make something of that photo so I can display it without displaying the actual photo iyswim.

Thanks you two. Yes, I have a computer programme which transfers a scanned photo and gives you all the thread info. I know you don't know me DG, but if you want me to make your photo into a pattern, I would be happy to do that for you.

DumbledoresGirl · 02/04/2009 21:56

Could I scan the photo and send it to you? Would that work?

DumbledoresGirl · 02/04/2009 21:57

Oops just seen you said your programme takes scanned photos - durr.

So how do you know what colour thread to use?

Dior · 03/04/2009 10:21

It gives you a list. The colours still seem to be current. I'm guessing DMC and anchor (which you can choose between) keep the same reference numbers. I can send you all that, and pattern information.

FlappyTheBat · 03/04/2009 16:08

Are all name changers viewed with suspicion?

Have only read the last couple of pages of this thread, I first joined mumsnet almost 5 years ago but left after someone in rl worked out who I was.
Have only recently come back after lurking for quite a while but because I had de-registered, I had to come back with another name, no other reason and no hidden agenda for my namechange!

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 04/04/2009 17:16

Flappy, no I don't think you are necessarily viewed with suspicion if you name change...depends on what sort of posts you post, I suppose...
I nmaechanged a while back, because I was bored by my old id (3andnomore), but because that was the only reason I actually put it into my Profile...well...my non-fetive profile....I haven't actually transfered my profile this time...

FairLadyOfMuslinCloth · 04/04/2009 17:17

Oh, I did have an incident where I had just donned my brandspanking new Halloween ID and someone accused me of trolling....
