Cant help it
The thought that there are intelligent, funny, non-sleazy men out there who have masses in common with me....

It just gives me hope

And he's a regular poster on MN too.

OP posts:

abetadad - discussing what to have for tea could never be thought of as mundane. (or that could be just me. I love food)

( Verily, there is a whole thread devoted to just such a topic on this board...)

IME a nicely cooked meal and a glass of something chilled, taken at a well laid table, is often the precursor to a conversation where all manner of future hopes and fears can be discussed very convivially.

AnyFucker · 31/03/2009 13:47

Ackchully, I have a crush on Rhubarb.

And ABetaDad made me piss myself one day when he dared to comment on the inadvisability of women wearing denim skirts

ABetaDad · 31/03/2009 13:48

Ah yes - definitely agree with you there. Tis true.

BigGitDad · 31/03/2009 14:05

What about short denim skirts Abetadad? Mini size, would they be okay?

TrillianEAstraEgg · 31/03/2009 14:07

No, apparently we should all be in knee-length tweed suits.

georgimama · 31/03/2009 14:08

I'm sure you can dp. If you do actually want to know, it was a thread about WOHM in which you told me (and it was very specifically me) that you didn't think I am bringing up my child because I work.

This comment made me feel totally shit tbh. I'm not looking for an apology, because you obviously meant it so there's no point in you saying sorry.

Thanks to the nonsense you have come out with on this thread though, I am quite safe in the knowledge that you are bonkers. Not malevolent, just bonkers.

smallorange · 31/03/2009 14:16

Ach, don't worry about stuff like that Georgimama - I've been told that as I'm a SAHM, I'm basically in domestic slavery, servicing my husband for board and lodging and raising daughters who will be subservient to men! A disgrace to our sex!

You can't win. And everyone says stupid things on those threads. Daftpunk's made what was fairly bumlicky thread into something far more entertaining!

ABetaDad · 31/03/2009 15:00

I do like a bit of controversy (you all right Daftpunk?). I hoped you would all forget the denim skirt thing though. You lot are like elephants. Never forget anything.

TrillianEAstraEgg · 31/03/2009 15:03

Forget? No. Change our minds? Often.

After the first 5 or so posts I saw from you (ABetaDad) I thought you were a humourless twerp. Now it's been more like 50 and I'm quite when I see that you're posting on a thread.

But I'm keeping my denim skirt, no matter what you say!

ABetaDad · 31/03/2009 15:12

TrillianAstra - its been bugging me for about the last fortnight now but I keep thinking I have seen your name somewhere before or know what it means.

I have to ask, is it a SciFi character or something like that ?

noddyholder · 31/03/2009 15:15

fgs dp you really need to re read your posts. You would prefer to see slags net than mumsnet? you really are a piece of work.

TrillianEAstraEgg · 31/03/2009 15:17

Yes, it is. Wikipedia can explain, as always.

ItsMargotBeauregarde · 31/03/2009 15:29

Well, if my x had had enough interest and respect in women (and their thoughts, opinions and chat) to check out mumsnet then he probably would have been an easier to live with sort of man.

Obviously men don't come here to talk about breastfeeding (but most of us don't either) that's a kind of need-to-know-now board.

Most of us are bloody hilarious and I'm not surprised that the Dads who stumble onto this board stay.

If we're going to have a favourite, I'm going to say MayorQuimby and Abetadad and retiredgoth. I like most of them, N1 is the only one who gives me the creeps. I would like to send a swat team round to his bedsit.

ABetaDad · 31/03/2009 15:54

Trillian - Gaaaarghh! I knew I knew what it was. Thanks for putting me out of my misery.

AnyFucker · 31/03/2009 16:04

trill, I too had ABetaAd down as a nincompoop with hairy ears

I dunno about the hairy ears, but he has proved himself to be an ok guy, notwithstanding the denim skirt comment

and now I realise I am talking about him as if he wasn't here

perhaps its a crush

ABetaDad · 31/03/2009 16:13

I have layers - like an onion. [Shrek]

TrillianEAstraEgg · 31/03/2009 16:17

Nah, I bet he has a special ear- and nose-hair trimming device

RustyBunny · 31/03/2009 16:18

daftpunk - wimps make great husbands - I've been married to one for 29 years next month,so I speak with authority on the subject....

DH doesn't (as far as I know) post on MN, but I often email threads to him (often when we are in the same room!) and he is always impressed by the level of debate - he's a regular poster on the BBC's Have Your Say & says there's no comparison. So I wouldn't be surprised to find him on here - I do wonder whether I'd spot him. After 29 years, I'd like to think I would.

BigGitDad · 31/03/2009 16:24

Noddy to be fair, DP said that she would rather see her dh on slagsnet or whatever rather than MN. She would not rather see slagsnet. (Think I will google that to see if it exists)

AnyFucker · 31/03/2009 16:26

oh no, although I think daftpunk goes too far I cannot agree with RustyBunny

wimps make crap husbands, I need somebody I can respect, not walk all over

I have walking-over tendencies, so I need someone with a bit of spunk < ahem >

BigGitDad · 31/03/2009 16:28

nearest I could get to slagsnet.com it's called stagnets.com It is about Mansfield Football Club. Still it's a blokes web site.

BigGitDad · 31/03/2009 16:30

Wimps make crap husbands??
Please someone stick up for them because they are not going to stick up for themselves...

UnquietDad · 31/03/2009 16:30

slagsnet.com is still up for grabs?

Somebody could make a killing with that...

TrillianEAstraEgg · 31/03/2009 16:32

I think maybe there is a gap in the market for men who daftpunk would call wimps but who are not, in fact, wimpy wimps at all.

UnquietDad · 31/03/2009 16:35

This could go on slagsnet
