To be feeding my children chicken dippers, chips and beans

because it's a Friday, I'm 31 weeks pregnant with SPD, chronic backache, every lovingly home-cooked meal I have slaved over has been pushed around this week (both DDs have had D&V) and, quite frankly, I can't be arsed?

I'd do cheese on toast.

Lulumama · 20/03/2009 17:07

oven chips and beans ok... chicken dippers can be a bit questionable , but check how much chickne is in them.. or do eggs, chips and beans

or pasta

or jacket spuds

Thunderduck · 20/03/2009 17:08

The occasional meal of chicken dippers won't hurt them.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 20/03/2009 17:08

moondog

Too much work - all that grating of cheese. Plus, we have no bread. I know, I know, hang head in shame. Also, I think the cheese is mouldy.

It's been that sort of day.

No you are not I keep all of the above for emergency dinners

salome64 · 20/03/2009 17:08

what else would you feed them? Is there an alternative?

My ds lives on plain pasta. maybe a bit of grated cheese if he fancies it. It is his idea of heaven.

traceybath · 20/03/2009 17:08

omelette and some salad?

re chicken dippers etc, we call it freezer food. Invaluable.

But do feed him the occasional vegetable. Just to keep on the right side of the the healthy eating thingy.

SkintColditz · 20/03/2009 17:12

YANBU and you know you're not.

PuppyMonkey · 20/03/2009 17:12

We're thinking of having the same thing here. No harm once in a while.

Fish finger sandwiches always go down well too. Yum.

jennymac · 20/03/2009 17:12

I think that the odd meal of chicken dippers will do them no harm - especially if it saves your sanity. Better having a happy mum and a not very nutritional meal once in a while than a well balanced meal and a stressed out pregnant lady!

Smithagain · 20/03/2009 17:13

I'm with you!

fish fingers, oven chips and frozen peas here. Have been out all day, including virtuous cycling to school, playing at park, attending mother's day assembly and picnic by river with DD2. By Gad I have earned the right to stick some frozen stuff in the oven and call it dinner.

So ner.

belgo · 20/03/2009 17:15

yanbu. nothing wrong with junk food occasionally.

nametaken · 20/03/2009 17:19

YANBU - I just got home from work, rummaged in the freezer and stuck some frozen grub in the oven. Tomorrow I have to cook dinner for 10 and Sunday am cooking a roast for 5.

sparklesandwine · 20/03/2009 17:21

friday is our junk food night but the dc have had a healthy eating day at school and are now refusing my offerings of pizza and garlic bread and want veg

....although they didn't refuse the chocolate biscuit i gave gave each of them

buggylovinmummy · 20/03/2009 17:28

Thats what mine have got for dinner tonight too, fridays is always junk day as me and dp have a takeaway when they are in bed and i cant be bothered to cook a proper meal.

muggglewump · 20/03/2009 17:30

YANBU.
Nowt wrong with any food as part of a balanced diet, I've never heard of a child dropping dead from eating a chicken dipper!

I confess I quite like those really cheap shite chicken shapes, dinosaurs/airoplanes/crowns and the like that FarmFoods sell. I have been known to smuggle them home, cook and eat the whole pack when DD is in bed.

In my defence I also love Foie Gras (tried it once and fell in foodie love) but not much hope of eating that on a regular basis!

random · 20/03/2009 17:31

Nothing wrong with dippers chips and beans just don't forget the tomato Ketchup

Trinityrhino · 20/03/2009 17:31

we are having fish and chips (freezer) and beans

JodieO · 20/03/2009 17:33

Nothing wrong with it at all, everything in moderation.

poshwellies · 20/03/2009 17:33

Mine have had Quorn dippers, chips and organic beans.

Nowt wrong with that.

Nabster · 20/03/2009 17:33

I had had enough the other day so mine had fish fingers, waffles and beans. They have it about twice a month so I don't worry about it.

Janos · 20/03/2009 17:34

No, nothing wrong with that!

My DS (4) loves that kind of meal. I'm sure someone will be along to chastise you soon enough though

Janos · 20/03/2009 17:35

Yummmmm at fish finger sarnies!
