Why do most boys clothes have sodding hoods on. every where, Next, Zara, H&M, M&S etc etc.

Stop with the hoods people!!!

If it's cold, we can put at hat on them?

Don't even get me started on all that slogan shite too!

No hoods and no puke making HERE COMES TROUBLE type C R A P!

In M&S today and was AGOG at a pair of 3-4 year old PJ's with a scary looking shark on.

Come on you dimwits!

Woolworths used to sell them....
I got ds1 a cardi (sans hoodie) from Peacocks, and have just got him a lovely stripy one (but with a hood so no good for you) from Tesco.

I guess we are shopping at different levels, my boys wear mostly supermarket clothes, no slogans on either of them (3 and 6).

letswiggle · 10/03/2009 21:13

so right. You end up with about 3 hoods on at the same time, and I don't really want my sons to be hoodies anyway!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 10/03/2009 21:14

God, I completely agree. Why is there so little choice with boys' clothes? DH reckons it's because there is so little choice with men's clothes..... he might have a point.

Another bugbear I have is that there are so few boys' clothes compared to girls. I wanted a rain mac for DS, went EVERYWHERE and was told 'we don't do them...' yet they had a choice of 4 different girls ones.... (I have since found one, BTW!)

Now expecting DS2 and have to go through the whole thing again... grrr....

Oh and I also HATE slogans 'I'm a cheeky monkey' AAAGH!

ChasingSquirrels · 10/03/2009 21:15

is this on long sleeve t-shirts aswell? we have only ever had 1 t-shirt with a hood - ex PIL's brought it and I never liked it.

letswiggle · 10/03/2009 21:20

Benetton 0-12 does lovely boys' jumpers without hoods by the way.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 10/03/2009 21:38

I've got a couple of cardis from Debenhams with no hoods for DS, they are really nice and weren't expensive (same or cheaper than equivelent items in Mothercare)

SoupDragon · 10/03/2009 21:43

[shrug]

I have 2 DSs and I think they have one hooded top between them. Excluding tracksuit type jackets.

nappyaddict · 21/03/2009 21:42

Can I ask why you don't like hoods on cardigans? They're are there for a purpose after all - to keep them warm.

Flibbertyjibbet · 21/03/2009 21:53

I have 2 ds's and they only have hoods on their next jackets which are denim with a sort of hoody sewn in.
I was in primark today and didn't see one hoody. Try shopping there, the hoods must use too much fabric to be included on the cheap primark stuff!

My own bugbear is that I don't like them to be in denim all the time but its hard to find nice trousers that are just.. well... trousers! NOT jeans.

notsoteenagemum · 21/03/2009 22:03

YANBU ds ha a hooded tank top for his birthday why does a tank top need a hood?

He looks like his neck has disappeared sometimes thanks to a build up of hoods on his back.

Where do you shop soupdragon?

hooded tops are good for keeping necks warm

Flibbertyjibbet · 21/03/2009 22:10

Holy shit do I have to look at all those links? It would be quicker to drive to the 24 hour asda.

But I don't like George stuff, their trousers are always too generous for my snake hipped skinny sons!

Thats what I was doing in Primark their trousers are so cheap cos theres no fabric in them.

TheProvincialLady · 21/03/2009 22:19

John Lewis do normal cardigans and jumpers, I picked some up in their 50% off sale. Boys clothes are generally dire. Why must everything be at least two thirds brown?

nappyaddict · 21/03/2009 22:33

No problem TPL - glad to be able to help

FAQinglovely · 21/03/2009 22:35

my DS's look gorgeous in hoodies - I actively seek them out

CherryChoc · 21/03/2009 23:05

I quite like hoods on some things (also do find them useful as DS hates hats) but I hate them on sleeveless things, I think that looks stupid.
