To think this is slightly strange??

My DH watches Spongebob Squarepants with my daughter and he enjoys it...which my neighbor finds very funny...as do I...

We are going out to dinner with a large group of friends tonight and my neighbor wants to wrap up her Spongebob Squarepants underware and give it to my husband in the middle of dinner as a joke.

We have only known our neighbors for a few weeks and invited them as they were here when the idea came up.

I am all for a joke and a laugh and I do find it very funny and know my DH will find it funny too...but I know he will ask me later why she gave him her underware lol I can see buying a cheap pair as a joke...but your used pants???

Is it just me or is that just a bit weird?

Just wondering what people think lol

Hmm
debs40 · 08/03/2009 11:05

First question, what is she doing with Spongebob squarepants underwear herself?

Second, why would this be funny?

YANBU - very weird obviously

emmabemmasmom · 08/03/2009 11:09

Yeah right? Why does she have them?

I can see the funny side since he likes the show and he is a grown man, but pants?

I know I could also lighten up and have a laugh...but used womens underware from someone we hardly know is a bit weird I think...

Er......I'd be quite disturbed that she owns a pair of sponge bob pants!

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2009 11:10

it's very weird
If it was his birthday and they were really close I could kind of see it being an in joke (but I'd still be a little ) but this is just odd!

scrooged · 08/03/2009 11:10

Eww. I wouldn't even dream of giving anyone, even my closest friend, a pair of my knickers! Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I'm going to be grossed out all day now. Ewww

piratecat · 08/03/2009 11:11

oh no!! ok it would be ok to buy him a cheapo pair of boxers for a laff, as a gift, but not produce her own pants.

how very strange

Ronaldinhio · 08/03/2009 11:11

I don't understand

Some woman you barely know wants to give your husband her pants

How is this funny?

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2009 11:12

Yeah agree, even in my close friend / in joke thing, they'd have to be new!
Does she find other inappropriate things funny?

debs40 · 08/03/2009 11:14

If you can't dissuade her, warn him and tell him you think it is weird too so he is creeped out - or cancel the dinner - or move !

scrooged · 08/03/2009 11:14

Sounds like something my 9 year old would do!

Ebb · 08/03/2009 11:14

Actually I think it's way too personal. Are you sure they are not secret swingers and trying to initiate something? I would beware!

emmabemmasmom · 08/03/2009 11:14

The only think even slightly funny is the Spongbob factor...

When she first texted me this morning I thought right ok...lighten up and have a laugh...but been thinking about it since then and the weirdness has sunk in.

Also...do I tell my DH before dinner so he is prepaired or do I talk to her and tell her not to do it? If I have to talk to this woman about her pants what do I say? lol

OP posts:
scrooged · 08/03/2009 11:17

I'd just tell her that it's inappropriate.

emmabemmasmom · 08/03/2009 11:17

OH and apparantly her partner thinks it is hillarious and was in stitches when she had the idea...

Do I need to move? lol

Yes! Turn and run as quickly as you can. Are they the Friday night party kar keys in a pot type IYKWIM?

Ronaldinhio · 08/03/2009 11:21

Giving him a spongebob t shirt/ key fob anything like that would be slightly humourous

This is not funny.

Interesting thing is that she is giving him something that used to cover her genitals...

emmabemmasmom · 08/03/2009 11:23

NO they are not even getting or giving any at the moment...don't ask how I know...she is very open about these things and I just nod and listen...

All I know is she isn't getting any and she does sometimes think in the gutter...but doesnt everyone?

I don't think she is the type...but I guess you never know the people your friends with or your neighbours...

ROTFL at initiating swinging by presenting used SBSP knickers!!! But honestly, she sounds awful - i mean, would you really want to be friends with someone who admits to owning such stuff?? She sounds like a prize twat and she fancies your DH.

Ebb · 08/03/2009 11:29

So she's not getting any and wants to give your husband a pair of her used knickers? Get a chastity belt on him quick! And go with him if he needs to leave the room at any stage. Spongebob knickers'll probably try and pounce him!

Morloth · 08/03/2009 11:33

Old friends buying a new pair of Spongebob undies would be funny.

People who I have known for a couple of weeks giving a pair of USED underpants (with any design on them) is just plain WEIRD.

RUN, run as fast as you can. These people would slip all the way down my contacts list!

LynetteScavo · 08/03/2009 11:33

A gown woman owns a pair of Sponge Bob pants and wears them?

That is weird.

emmabemmasmom · 08/03/2009 11:35

You know thing is as well...she is here everyday...and I mean EVERYDAY.

She has a son the same age as my daughter and she has been going through a lot and we just moved so I didn't know a lot of people either so I didn't have the heart to lay down limits.

It is to the point where my DH and I talk about it and he doesn't mind that she is here but he did say that he would like to come home one day and not have here here and it is his home afterall.

She stays for dinner 3 to 4 times a week...as 5pm rolls around and I have to start dinner and she just lingers until I have to ask...do you want to stay? Since I am not gonna eat infront of her and her son.

Her partner works late and I think she is lonely but I mean come on...

I feel the time has passed to draw lines without hurting her feelings but what do I say?

Regarding pants...it is weird and I am glad I am not some uptight prude wife who can't have a laugh...thanks for support lol

You really do need to get this woman to back off a bit.

Sounds like trouble brewing to me.

LynetteScavo · 08/03/2009 11:51

She needs to back off...a lot.

You need to form a plan.....
