As it turned out, even with the change in Terms of Service (now chanegd back) they had no rights to share your pics with anyone you hadn't already allowed - i.e. they were restricted by your privacy settings.
So actually...
"Basically, Facebook can do whatever the hell they want with YOUR STUFF.
And, they can do so WITHOUT your permission."

...was never the case.
