LMLT I am always getting it wrong on here and flounce at least once a month. I have not offended anyone on here for at least 4 days so I am sure soon enough I will be taking the wrath of mumsnet for you.

In this situation I just walk away from the thread Dont dereg

daftpunk · 16/02/2009 22:52

LMLT...don't be silly with the dereging stuff...i've lost count of the crap threads i've started

AnastasiaBeaverhausen · 16/02/2009 22:53

Don't dereg. I knew as soon as I saw the thread title that this was the sort of thing that would hang on a knife edge and turn sour.

Never mind, come over to the Fanjo Boil thread instead to cheer yourself up.

Poppycake · 16/02/2009 22:54

Laptop please take that one back - it's horrible.

I think the MILF thing is a bit icky and wouldn't want it shouted at me, but then I've always been like that and never liked boys like that. So each to their own on that one, I think. But that's not really an acceptable AIBU response!

So well done for getting people's hackles up good and proper, but please, no more horrid stuff.

RiaParkinson · 16/02/2009 22:56

polly

it undermines women uniting as a force

LoveMyLapTop · 16/02/2009 22:58

I apologise for the paedophile comment
It was sick I was just trying to think of the worst thing ever - that is it
I am just totally bewildered by how this thread turned out
And like I said I really dont get it
My head is throbbing from this and I dont know why it has got to me so much

'that's the beauty of Mumsnet'

might re name it Mums fret!

twinsetandpearls · 16/02/2009 23:00

MN does get to you, particularly if you are sensitive, it reduced me to a sobbing mess last week when a thread turned on me. I took a few days out and am now posting with care.

Walk away from the thread and find a safe one.

PollyFilla · 16/02/2009 23:00

Okaaaay. So you think women shouldn't be attractive? Sorry, I think I'm missing your point somewhat.

daftpunk · 16/02/2009 23:01

posting with care....i like that.

LoveMyLapTop · 16/02/2009 23:01

This will restore your faith in MN Laptop.

cornsilk · 16/02/2009 23:10

LMLT don't dereg

twinsetandpearls · 16/02/2009 23:10

I have always posted what I thought, as I am like that in real life will say what i think. I am not someone who seeks to offend, but has passionate beliefs and values and will stand up for them.

I was told this week by more than one poster that I am seen as malicious and offensive on here and that has shocked me to the core.

I was going to leave permanently but have decided to follow my post with care option. That went slightly out of the window when I posted on here last night after a bottle of bubbly.

wotulookinat · 16/02/2009 23:11

Surely the wished-for end result of finding someone attractive is ... oh sid it, I've had some wine and I can't be bothered to put my point of view across anymore. It pisses me off that so many arguments go on and on on MN because people want others to agree with them. So many people can't let it rest with simply putting their point of view down.
OP, as I have said before, YANBU. Good for you.

LoveMyLapTop · 16/02/2009 23:15

AB now I feel sick as well as having a headache!
Wot I didnt expect people to agree with me, jjust didnt expect it to kick of like it did.
Was just a throwaway conversation.

this thread is sick.
how dare you accuse paedophiles of being cannibals.

tiredsville · 16/02/2009 23:20

I initially thought responses were over the top.

No-one (I shouldn't think) minds people finding other people attractive.

What some people are discussing here is "what ways are reasonable or ok to express that?"

Some people (me included) feel that shouting "oi, you lucky lucky woman, I'm a pimply teenage boy and I'd like to have sex with you, it's your lucky day!" - which is what "MILF" seems to be expressing, but do correct me if I'm wrong - is neither flattering nor ego boosting.

But some teenaged boys these days THINK IT'S OK to shout this sort of stuff at GROWN WOMEN and many of us don't like it. We don't find it flattering. We find it offensive. It's objectifying women. It's sexist.

And you don't have to be a man hating minger to feel that way (I'm neither, apparently).

LoveMyLapTop · 16/02/2009 23:25

am dreading coming back on tomorrow as i am sure people will come back for more.
Just feel like I have made a complete tit of myself

OP posts:
PollyFilla · 16/02/2009 23:25

(and not that I think Minger is an ok way to describe any woman either, I was responding to comments on this thread suggesting that anyone who objected must be one).
