have not sat down all day, was up loads in the night last night with DS3. Is it normal to not do housework, even if there's stuff to be done, if you're tired and want to sit and veg for a while?

I don't think my DH is even aware of skirting boards, let alone their relative cleanliness.

It's nearly 9 on a sat night and he wants you on your hands and knees scrubbing skirting boards?

He is BVU and I'm amazed and rather concerned that he has said this to you.

Was it a joke?

Northernlurker · 31/01/2009 20:51

If my dh told me to clean the skirting boards I would certainly do it.......

using his BALLS.

tumtumtetum · 31/01/2009 20:52

The only reason I can think that my DH might question why I wasn't cleaning the skirting board when he got in would be if DD had shat all over it.

And then he would offer to help.

PlumBumMum · 31/01/2009 20:52

Yeap I should be ironing etc....

TrinityRhino · 31/01/2009 20:52

on thinking again about this

I must say
he has to have been joking right

I mean its skirting boards for a start

how dirty are they
its saturday and late, time to relax

and why would he be telling you what to do

Wonderstuff · 31/01/2009 20:53

So does he ever sit down and relax when such vital jobs as cleaning skirting boards need doing?

tumtumtetum · 31/01/2009 20:53

chewitt come and tell us you are joking

southeastastra · 31/01/2009 20:54

when i lived in a flat the upstairs used to hoover all saturday night

choosyfloosy · 31/01/2009 20:54

Depends where this came up.

If you were in one of those conversations where you needle him until he says something you can outrage over, YABU.

If he works all hours and does loads of childcare while you have your feet up, YABU.

If you constantly whinge at him to do DIY etc without ever learning to do it yourself and complain about him on the phone in front of him, YABU.

Otherwise, tell him if he cares about skirting boards, to do them himself.

What are skirting boards? Why do they need cleaning?

Is it even legal to clean on a saturday night. Give DH the cloth to clean the skirting boards and tell him to buy you wine afterwards.

Hassled · 31/01/2009 20:57

chewitt, I really hope this is a wind-up. I it isn't, show him this thread. He is acting like a nutter. Normal people do not complain that at 20.45 on a Saturday, having been busy all day, they clean skirting boards. Only controlling bullies say things like that.

Portofino · 31/01/2009 21:00

Umm. Tell him to fuck right off?

chewitt · 31/01/2009 21:03

Its not a wind up but readingn choosyfloosys reminds me there's a context. We've been bickering about crap stuff.
I like Northern Lurkers idea....

Phew

thisisyesterday · 31/01/2009 21:06

twat. tell him if he wants them done that badly he can do them himself.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 31/01/2009 21:07

Do it but do it badly. When he complains, tell him you need him to show you how you should clean them.

When he does it, tell him he has done it sooo well, that he should continue doing it

Alternatively, tell him to feck off.
