To be really embarrassed about this?!

Walking in to my works canteen a 50 year old male colleague booms out 'My aren't we looking pregnant today?!' (I am 5 months) I touched my bump and said 'Yes its popped out a bit today' he leered at my chest and said 'Ha ha I wasn't talking about your stomach'
I went bright red (people all looked and I felt like a fool) and said 'You should not make personal remarks like that' he said 'oh well your hair looks nice ha ha ha'
I mentioned it to my boss as it was soooo rude and I thought it should be noted. My boss laughed and said 'well don't wear low cut dresses then'
I wore a polo neck the next day and my boss said 'There thats much better'
I ended up feeling like I asked for it and now I am the one in the wrong! My chest is an f cup and its so hard keeping them under control but surely I should not have to wear polo tops.........?

How rude of your colleague.

Polo necks ime will make them look bigger. Have you been able to be fitted for a really well fitting bra? I also had significantly larger norks when pg. (back to normal now).

moondog · 22/01/2009 21:24

Fucking idiot.
Next time you see him, leer and say
'My, aren't we looking roomy in the trouser dept. today?! What happened? had a fright?'.

Then toss your head and walk on.

Haribosmummy · 22/01/2009 21:25

Next time you get the chance... wear a nice low cut top and when he mentions your tits tell him it's such a pity there isn't anything that would make him grow some balls and be a real man.

What an arse.

If you have any sort of HR dept. I'd report him. I took far too much of this sort of crap to find it remotely funny.

tessofthedurbervilles · 22/01/2009 21:26

I have been fitted but they are just so full and I find the lack of underwire makes them seem unsupported and 'out there'

Lol moondog- nice comeback

Haribosmummy · 22/01/2009 21:27

You're 5 months PG FFS... that's what tits DOOO... Even mine were huge at the end and I hardly have boobs (or a bump!!!)

Be comfy and tell hte arse to swivel.

Jacksmama · 22/01/2009 21:28

I think you should report both the fuckwit man who made the original comment, and your boss. If he thought you shouldn't be wearing low cut dresses, there are much more appropriate ways of pointing that out. IMO "there, that's much better" about yout polo neck is pretty close to being out of order as well.
for you!!

LadyOfWaffle · 22/01/2009 21:28

I would take both mens behaviour to your bosses boss (if he has one). YOu should not have to wear polo necks

ANTagony · 22/01/2009 21:28

I think a quick note to personel is in order - maybe an email. Not making a formal complaint (unless you feel strongly about it) but expressing an on record concern about attitude of male colleague and bosses dismissal of your mention of colleagues attitude.

My son (5) calls them milk tanks! It is after all the most wonderful natural thing in the world. No one should be made to feel embarassed about.

Haribosmummy · 22/01/2009 21:30

Good advice, AntAgony... Get something on record now... Not saying you will ever do anything about it, but good to make the point.

HecateQueenOfGhosts · 22/01/2009 21:30

"So mr boss man, what IS the going rate for a sexual harassment claim these days?"

onepieceofbrusselssprout · 22/01/2009 21:31

Yes, your boss is out of order as well. Most unprofessional. What line of work are you in?

I agree, it's sexual harassment, at the very least you should keep a written, dated record in case it continues and you do want to make a complaint in the future.

Ronaldinhio · 22/01/2009 21:57

twat

I bet a "oh, would you like me to breast feed you little man" would have embarrassed him more

Some of my male colleagues were like that about my balloon like h cup breasts but any mention of "all the better to breast feed with" strangley made them green

not men at all making a pregnant woman feel uncomfortable...pricks the lot of them

PlumBumMum · 22/01/2009 22:01

moondog

both of them were out of oreder i think i'd be more than

PlumBumMum · 22/01/2009 22:02

*order

Sorry if this kills your thread seem to be doing that alot tonite

BodyBagBastard · 22/01/2009 22:04

Excellent retort moondog.

cheshirekitty · 22/01/2009 22:10

Pure and simple it is sexual harrassment. Go to your HR department.

Then let his tyres down, put a pint of lactulose into his coffee, and see him shit for England.

Cheshirekitty apologises for the bad language in this post.

starbear · 22/01/2009 22:12

If you don't want to go down the route of complaint. Could you get a senior colleague to have a word. I did this once about another issue and it worked. Mind you the prat who annoyed me then said I was sleeping with the said senior colleague and we put the boot in for any future promotion. Not true and no one really took any notice of him as they all thought he was a prat.

ladymariner · 22/01/2009 22:22

What is it about these arseholes that make them think they can pass comments about women's breasts and it's funny??? I'm a h cup and I'm not pregnant, and believe me, I've had more than my fill of shit comments like that. Now I don't stand for it. Why should we?

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 22/01/2009 22:22

Next time (if you don't want to go down an official route) if he says anything, will yourself to burst into tears and clutch your bump. He'll be mortified and everyone will think he's a bastard.
