I have been sick this morning and feel like death, I don't normally drink on a school night but just fancied a glass of vino and putting my feet up.

Anyway, I drank the whole bottle and drank 2 big glasses of diluting juice before I went to bed a bit tipsy.

I feel absolutely dreadful, is a bottle of wine really that much!!

Am now thinking of going teetotal, is it because im getting older aaahhh!

A whole bottle to yourself? That level of hangover sounds about right to me.

One big glass is 3 units now, yes? How many glasses was one bottle?

IdrisTheDragon · 15/01/2009 10:49

A whole bottle would give me a big hangover tbh

Lizzylou · 15/01/2009 10:50

One bottle of wine wouldn't make me ill the next day, a bit fuzy, but not sick. I am a big girl though
Had you eaten much?

ForeverOptimistic · 15/01/2009 10:50

I would be sick if I drank a whole bottle of wine on a school night! I had half a bottle of wine last night and feel a bit hungover today. At Christmas we were drinking way too much and I would feel fine the next day, now we are back to drinking at weekends only and I notice the affects after just one glass.

Serves me right then, I hear people saying they had a bottle of wine the night before and seem fine! Bloomin wino's lol.

Just a normal size bottle flowerey, think had 4 or 5 glasses.

I'd be hungover after just half... but then I am a complete lightweight with any alcohol!

themoon66 · 15/01/2009 10:52

Are you on antibiotics or anything? One bottle of wine followed by 2 big drinks of diluted juice would never give me a hangover.

listenglisten · 15/01/2009 10:53

I can sometime feel like that after one glass of wine, depending on what type it is!

I usually drink spirits as they don't give me a hangover at all.

Lionstar · 15/01/2009 10:55

Even half a bottle these days would have me feeling rough for all the next day

lilacclaire · 15/01/2009 10:56

Im not on any medication at all, no colds, ate my dinner etc, was just suprised at how absolutely crap I feel.

I do smoke which may have contributed.

Oh well, Im officially a lightweight, I would have had a bottle of wine just for starters when I was younger....

Time of the month also impacts things.

Although I would argue that you have to be made of pretty strong stuff to feel completely fine after a full bottle.

Lizzylou · 15/01/2009 10:58

Was it red wine?
I only drink white tbh as get ill on red.

Notreallycutoutforthis · 15/01/2009 10:59

Was it a shiraz? That's an instant migraine for me (3 sips by accident). Or it might be something with lots of sulphites? Sulphites can give you hangover/food poisoning symptoms for up to 3 days after...

ChopsTheDuck · 15/01/2009 11:01

i ordered a case of wine from lathwaites before xmas. It's not any more stronger than what we usually drink in wine, but I find that I can't drink more than half a bottle of that wihtout getting a hangover-ish feeling, sometimes before have even been to bed! I think it's down to chemicals in the wine.

lilacclaire · 15/01/2009 11:01

Gallo Chardonney

What on earth is Sulphites think will be avoiding wine from here on in!

Ooh - stomach stripper! Stuff that's been generously oaked is always a hangover at best for me

belgo · 15/01/2009 11:04

One glass of wine gives me a hangover like that!

A.B.C. sweedie. (Anything But Chardonnay!)Give's me a hangover headache before I've even finished a second glass.

I can drink my body weight in Sauvingon Blanc however

piratecat · 15/01/2009 11:19

see my thread about similar form last week!!

very ill

onthepier · 15/01/2009 14:11

If you want to avoid a hangover, plain water is much better than any flavoured soft drink, don't know why, maybe it's the acidic flavourings of fruit drinks combined with the wine that doesn't mix! Hope you feel better though.

Madsometimes · 15/01/2009 14:11

I often have a glass of wine in the evening, but I could not do a bottle (well, I could, but I would regret it the next day).
So YABU to be surprised about having a hangover after a bottle of wine! (But if you enjoyed it, I am sure it was worth it )

mumeeee · 15/01/2009 15:11

A whole bottle is quite a lot. There are about 2 galsses in a bottle which makes around 0 units.

mumeeee · 15/01/2009 15:11

I meant around 9 units.
