to get a bit miffed that all the best kicking off's and flouncings happen on threads that when i first read them were boring so didn't bother going back?

IKWYM - I'm on MN far too much, but all the interesting stuff always seems to happen when I'm not here!!!

TsarChasm · 10/01/2009 10:41

Yes, I think the thread titles should start to glow red and flash when they heat up.

Mamazon · 10/01/2009 10:42

ooh yes good plan Tsar!

I agree. AM always having to go back and read the last few pages of something that's gone a good'un to work out where it started and who said what. And there's always a load of guff in there somewhere by someone trying to bump it off the board...

Marthasmama · 10/01/2009 10:44

I'm new but have become addicted to MN and I am gutted about missing some very funny stuff! Like the thread where a mum was boasting that her baby was a genius. Hilarious! I try to stay out of things when they get lairy, I'm too new and scared of the bigger girls!

Mamazon · 10/01/2009 10:45

oh don't be scared, dive right in! it'll help you fit in.

The thing is it's always the threads I seem to have skipped cos they didn't appeal/ weren't relevant to me that I miss and subsequently seem to ignite.

Then everyone is talking about 'that thread' which by then has been deleted anyway and all the debris has been swept up and no-one will say what happened.

I only eventually clicked on the original moldie thread because there seemed an usually high number of posts on it and it was constantly in the current list. I thought it was something about cleaning so I avoided it for days

Mamazon · 10/01/2009 10:50

ooh we could have a number of lurkers nextto the number of posts each thread has.
It'd be like being at school where the big crowd forms around the two kids punching hell out of each other.

Reality - I was just going to say the same thing - need a buzzer sound and the screen has to flash up red every 5 secs or so.

LoveBeingAMummy · 10/01/2009 11:13

Maybe someone could design a fight icon that can be put up next to the thread to let us know

But seriously a number of views tracker would help.

LoveBeingAMummy · 10/01/2009 11:14

ps is there one in particular that your on about....what have i missed???

Mamazon · 10/01/2009 11:17

oh there seem to have been loads recently.

it was one i saw linked to about burlesque dancing that finally got me annoyed though...i had read the first part of that thread!

OP posts:
ladymariner · 10/01/2009 11:28

Burlesque dancing??? oh do tell more

Marthasmama · 10/01/2009 11:28

The bracelet saga was good too. There were some nasty heartless posters on that one! It kicked off in a big way.

Mamazon · 10/01/2009 11:29

oh it started off being a woman who wanted to go to a burlesque class but her hubby said it was for sad old duffers.
it seemed to spiral into a feminist argument abotu whether burlesque was just about pleasing men and that any woman who actualluy enjoyed sex must just be doing it for her partners sake

OP posts:
ladymariner · 10/01/2009 11:30

I agree with mamazon though, I spend far too much time on here but always seem to miss the "lively" bits!

ladymariner · 10/01/2009 11:31

Oh crikey, thanks for that, mamazon, sounds interesting!

BouncingTurtle · 10/01/2009 11:32

I read the beginning and end of bracelet thread obviously the good bits were in the middle lol!

Hey, I know, shall we start a fight on this thread?

Put up your dukes!!!

LoveBeingAMummy · 10/01/2009 11:36

How dare you suggest such a thing I am going to start a thread about it

kayzr · 10/01/2009 11:37

I do agree we need something. I did read the first page of the burlesque one and then didn't go back so missed everything.

It needs to be like it was at school, where people would run round shouting "Fight on Blickling playground" and everyone would rush there.

LoveBeingAMummy · 10/01/2009 11:40

Maybe alongside the flouncers section we could ahve a no go section where all the fights get moved too and anyone that wants to avoid could do so and those who want to join in can get stuck in, maybe I'll suggest it on the sitre stuff section......

BouncingTurtle · 10/01/2009 11:48

bunfight

LoveBeingAMummy · 10/01/2009 11:49

Surpose a picture of loads of women in different houses around the country tapping away at a PC wouldn't ahve the same effect

BoffinMum · 10/01/2009 11:51

That is inspired, LoveBeingAMummy. I would check that topic first every single time!
