I wouldn't know what Heinz tomato soup tasted like, as opposed to some tomato soup when I was out.

PMSL Cocoacloset!

That's like the bit in Fawlty towers when the two old dears ask if they can cancel their Fresh Fruit Salad and Sybil says it's difficult as chef has already opened the tin.

I agree with the OP, Heinz cream of tomato has a unique taste (s'why I love it)

Rip off!

I keep seeing baked potatoes for £4.99 every where. It's ridiculous.

moondog · 10/01/2009 14:36

Yes, but you're not just paying for the food-you are paying for heating, staff, dishwashing and so on.

ItsGrimUpNorth · 10/01/2009 19:27

Three quid for tinned soup and a fiver for a baked potato? That's just a piss take whatever the overheads are.

soopermum1 · 10/01/2009 21:21

my local cafe (greasy spoon by day, 'restaurant' by night) serves soup at £5 a bowl.

JumpingDizzy · 10/01/2009 21:27

Rip off, never mind overheads they'll not have any if they carry this on.

How can places charge this when my wonderful local Thai restaurant can give you a delicious 3 course lunch for 6.95 with linen napkins and excellent service. Weatherspoons can do lunches 2 for 6.99, I could go on.

I know places have to keep going but they insult your intelligence sometimes.
