I'm not sure why you're disgusted. Squirrel is actually quite a pleasant meat, and although the crisps probably won't taste anything like squirrel meat, I'm planning to try them before deciding.

Thunderduck · 09/01/2009 17:11

I've eaten squirrel.

It's rather nice actually. I'm not so sure about squirrel flavoured crisps though.

Didn't someone used to do Hedgehog?

Write and tell them you're from Tenessee and that you're very disappointed as you were hoping for some homestyle flavors. [sic]

Most flavoured crisps are disgusting anyway

Nagapie · 09/01/2009 17:16

I think I would draw the line at roadkill flavour ....

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 09/01/2009 17:20

No squirrels were killed in the making of the crisps. Which is more than you can say for the chicken flavour...
I think YABU and speciesist too [tongue poking out emoticon needed here]

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/01/2009 17:24

I really wanted to know!

Not sure what happened there

Lauriefairycake · 09/01/2009 17:27

I'd rather eat 'fake' squirrely flavouring than real battery chicken

But I'll be buying cheese n'onion like normal

TheCrackFox · 09/01/2009 17:27

Is it red or grey squirrel? Cos' I am not eating no foreign muck.

theres another thread which has link...apparently its 'Cajun Squirrel'. They eat the critters in the southern usa, y'all know. The photo is grey, as it should be.

Thunderduck · 09/01/2009 17:31

I've eaten squirrel because dp and I take part in falconry, though we try to avoid squirrels. And dp goes rough shooting.

SmallShips · 09/01/2009 17:35

Mmmmm squirrel.

Better not be red, the guilt trip i got for running over a red squirrel lasted months.

Drum · 09/01/2009 17:38

You can buy grey squirrels at the butchers around these (rural, English) parts. This is one of the last outposts of the red squirrel, so many folks see it as a public service to chomp on a grey.

I would be upset if Walkers were carrying out a mass slaughter of squirrels to produce them, but that seems unlikely...

kettlechip · 09/01/2009 20:11

has anyone tried the squirrel crisps? Are they nice? Are they supposed to taste like actual squirrel or is it just a gimmick?
I'm veggie so won't be rushing out to get some but am still curious..
