I dont think I am although I think my boss will think differently if anyone sees me.

I threw out dd's shoes before xmas, have beem ill for over a week and been off work, my boss phoned me today asking when I was 'planning' on going back despite me phoning on friday to say I wouldnt be in all weekend, anyway dd is back in school on Tuesday and has no other shoes she can wear.

So AIBU??

no way, i didnt know it was you!! How come youve namechanged.

They were fine when I phoned in today actually, I did ask the practice educator and she said it was the best thing to do and that even if I went in and looked after an easy patient, then what happened if that patient got sicker or whatever.
Just cant shake this, I think Im better, then go out somewhere and wham its like being battered with a big stick

How are you getting on anyway?

blardy Nora

I said it depended on the child and the town.

And my son travelled alone on the train - it wasn't a school route. The only child doing that jopurney from the city centre( which he had to walk to) to a school about ten miles out from where we had moved to. So actually pretty similar.
And i would have let him go into town centre to buy shoes -so err exactly the same.

But you carry on by all means

If you are going to send your child to the shops to buy new shoes, you have to be very sure that they are going to come back with something you approve of and that's suitable. And let's face it, my idea of what's a suitable school shoe, and theirs do vary somewhat.

gawd I was grumpy yesterday - sorry about that.

Sunny
I think that is easy for my boy as his shoes are pretty tight regulation so not really a problem there.
DD would have chosen something really lairy but shes only six so not quite the same thing at all .
WQould you really have a problem getting a 13 year old to buy plain black shoes for school - really? I am not (honestly) being grumpy again just curious. If you sent a 13 year old out for plain school shoes would they really fuck it up? Mine wouldn't and i am just struggling to see that as an issue.

sunnygirl1412 · 07/01/2009 09:45

I think the issue for me is that my boys' schools are apparently more lax over the shoe issue - ie. they can get away with black trainers or skate shoes, but I'd prefer them to have proper shoes. If I go with them, I have a better chance of them getting something that is a reasonable compromise.

All that said, if I was ill, I would send them on their own to get school shoes if dh couldn't take them - I might reserve the right to mutter about what they brought back, though.

And then there's the question of whether dh could be trusted to come back with the right thing (he has cocked up in the past - because he doesn't listen) - but that's a whone other thread!
