Or am I being unreasonable? I personally find it nauseating.

OP posts:
Aitch · 31/12/2008 19:01

lol. what are you calling yours?

MsG · 31/12/2008 19:02

I don't especially like it...but each to their own, I guess!

rollyrabbit · 31/12/2008 19:02

I was going to be controversial and call mine the baby

OP posts:
Dragonbrandybutter · 31/12/2008 19:03

i can't stand when people name their baby before it's born and refer to it by name.
sounds unhinged.

AnarchyAunt · 31/12/2008 19:07

Have to agree with dragonbutter on that. Sorry.

My mate used to refer to her unborn baby as 'the dirty squatter' which went down a treat at antenatal group full of beans and bumps.

MegBusset · 31/12/2008 19:08

Mine's called Eggbert, is that OK?

TheInvisibleManDidIt · 31/12/2008 19:09

I always refered to my 2 as Bump when I was pregnant.

snuffyp · 31/12/2008 19:12

socialpariah · 31/12/2008 19:12

I get more annoyed at people who sign their cards from their pets.

dooneygirl · 31/12/2008 19:15

You're right. My two were called Bucky and Spud the Peanut. Much better.

MsHighwater · 31/12/2008 19:17

Mine was Wayne. (I'm Scottish )

rollyrabbit · 31/12/2008 19:17

I received a Christmas card this year from:
Jo, Dave and Bump!

OP posts:
Ashantai · 31/12/2008 19:18

All 3 of mine were called bub

fruitbeard · 31/12/2008 19:19

DD was called Disco Stu because she danced a lot in there (still does now she's out)

MaureenMLove · 31/12/2008 19:23

Mine was called Gordon. Don't know why, but it was Gordon.

MKG · 31/12/2008 19:24

My niece was a "beanie". Today she's 5 yo and everyone still calls her "beanie".

ButIForgetMyself · 31/12/2008 20:11

I called mine Shorty, on account of it being a Short-arse. It started as a joke but stuck. Then DP told me he hated it, so we started calling it Baby again.

We got Christmas Cards addressed to J, F* and Shorty. Or Bump.

foxinsocks · 31/12/2008 20:14

I had a bean. I am the most un fussy un cutesy person in real life but she was definitely a bean :-)

She is also still called bean today and she's 8!

(though she now blushes when we call her that in front of boys )

BoffinMum · 31/12/2008 20:20

UG, short for Unexpected Guest or EG1, for Expected Guest No 1, EG2 for Expected Guest No 2, etc etc. We seem to have lost count now.

YABU. Who cares what other folk call theirs?

Mine were called lumps by a colleague, and he wrote it in the Christmas cards he sent.

Still, saves him having to remember their names.

LucyEllensmummy · 31/12/2008 20:38

Mine was "the alien"

NotBigJustBolshy · 31/12/2008 20:42

I'm with the OP: this is a foul and unnecessary practice. Yuk.

BouncingTurtle · 31/12/2008 20:44

YABU. Get over it.

Mine was called turtle because on the 9 week scan it looked like a turtle.
My friend is expecting in April, hers is called Hobbit - She and her DH are LotR fans.

NotSoRampantRabbit · 31/12/2008 20:45

DS was called Colin.

This one (named by DS) is called Pirate.

We don't do cute.
