'why do you care'?

If none of us cared about anything the threads would be empty.

Do I need a reason?

I don't especially 'care' that much but sometimes just want erm, well - a chat.

No YANBU.

I just saw that one too and i thought 'how rude!' but then some people just get tetchy around Christmas.

MrsSeanBean · 22/12/2008 11:34

LOL, I got another post to say 'there's noyhing to chat about!' (Think I will scuttle off back to RL and bore real people instead for a while!)

OP posts:
silentnightplease · 22/12/2008 11:34

YANBU - none of us would ever post if we didn't care! Agree, sometimes you just want to say something and nobody in RL wants to hear it. That's why I love MN - you can ALWAYS get an opinion - even if you don't like it!

paolosgirl · 22/12/2008 11:38

YANBU

It's the same person who also tells you that this has already been discussed on another thread or posts a "yawn"

Why do they even expend the energy required to type a response?

Doodle2U · 22/12/2008 11:38

Who is Kit?

MrsSeanBean · 22/12/2008 11:40

Sorry 'Kit' was a typo, I meant 'it's'.

OP posts:
mayorquimby · 22/12/2008 12:23

yep, it's along the lies of people who try and make whatever you are talking/complaining about seem trivial and frivolous mentioning how much worse others have it.
yes i know that the price of concert tickets/this years holiday/my car insurance are not that important when compared to genocide or the plight of the homeess so i should thank myself lucky to even have these problems.but if all we're allowed discuss is the serious things in life, then we will all have to be either very silent, or very depressed.

FiveDollarShake · 22/12/2008 12:32

here here mayorquimby!!

MrsSeanBean · 22/12/2008 12:40

I agree, we should be able to discuss whatever we have on our minds, whether trivial or serious.

It annoyes me when - just because you feel like having a light-hearted AIBU for example - that you get lambasted along the lines of 'don't you have anything more serious than that to worry about...?' And anyway, who's the arbiter of whether something counts as 'serious' or not?

OP posts:
TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 22/12/2008 12:47

Don't you have anything more serious to care about?
If that's all you have worrying you I'd love to be you

Just post it back on their threads

Poppycake · 22/12/2008 12:55

To show solidarity with MNers who like to talk about nothing (because RL is sometimes a tad too real for my liking) I have added my twopennerth to your thread.

It's what keeps civilisation together goddammit! I will commenting on the dreadful weather come the apocolypse...

dreamingofagreenlawnchristmas · 22/12/2008 12:59

Oh I got the "yawn yawn" thing once (actually that was the polite version, I believe the actual version was "oh for ffs search the archives") when I first started posting here and asked a really ordinary question. Nice touch, but then I'm just a mum who needed information rather than Mrs Witty-And-Original-Pants. YANBU.

paolosgirl · 22/12/2008 13:27

I always wonder if these posters start shouting "yawn yawn, we've already talked about this" in RL whenever a conversaton starts that she feels has already been talked about long enough.

I have a suspicion she does - which is why she has no RL friends and has to spend her time on MN!

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 22/12/2008 13:50

I don't understand the yawn yawn thing- surely as we get more people then we might get newer perspectives on stuff? Which is valuable, no? (apart from baby anme threads- are there really that many people who cannot access a bookshop / name website?)

AS for the toehr people have it so much harder- and??? There'd be no threads bar woe is me if people didnt post other stuff, fun that'd be

Ronaldinhio · 22/12/2008 13:51

yabu to start a thread about an answer in a thread

shootRudolphinthehip · 22/12/2008 13:53

link please

nannyeggnogg · 22/12/2008 13:56

yanbu at all, but why do you care?

(just posting something tongue in cheek cos I do so love to type 'fwink')

MrsSeanBean · 22/12/2008 14:04

No. I'm not going to link to the thread. I don't want this to be viewed as having a go at the MNer in question. I was feeling a bit fragile first thing and thought 'OH. I'm boring' Just wondered if I was BU to feel that way.

OP posts:
Pinkjennybellrock · 22/12/2008 14:14

I saw the thread you are referring to, and you challenged said poster on there.

YABU to start another thread about it.

Rookietherednosedreindeer · 22/12/2008 14:17

YANBU.

My own peeve is when people say they are worried about something such as losing job or having health worries or DC problems and someone else lumbers along saying " Ha you think you have problems, I have 3 legs, 22 DCs and we have never earned more than thruppence hapenny ever and what would you know about troubles, pah !"( paraphrasing slightly) Again if only the most unwell, most challenged and poorest Mumsnetter is allowed to post it leads to a very low number of potential threads.

Anyway, slightly off tangent. As you were.

coppertop · 22/12/2008 14:19

Dreamingofagreenlawnchristmas - That's so sad. I'm glad you decided to stick around anyway though.

MrsSeanBean · 22/12/2008 14:20

Oh dear. Is this another 'rule' I'm not aware of?

Grovelling apologies all round.

No offence meant to anyone.

Just using mn to chat.

Make mental note not to do this again.

Slaps wrists.

OP posts:
coppertop · 22/12/2008 14:22

LOL at Rookie. The Style section would be overrun with "Does my suitably chastened bum look big in this sackcloth?" threads.

Ronaldinhio · 22/12/2008 14:24

btw

you are not boring or thin skinned normally

MrsSeanBean · 22/12/2008 14:50

Just a blip Ronaldinhio!

If it's BU to start a thread about another thread, a lot of MNers ABU at the moment............!
