Just asked my dh who worked for Tesco until recently and he says that he was never told to restrict anyones number of purchases in all the time he worked there.

NotanOtter · 07/12/2008 23:17

OP posts:
thisisyesterday · 07/12/2008 23:18

you should have asked to be shown the signs

Amapoleon · 07/12/2008 23:18

Oh thanks, I did wonder. That makes it even more ridiculous, that they won't let you do a family shop.

NotanOtter · 07/12/2008 23:19

dp was in the car with the babies and i was on my way to ikea i was in no state to search for the signs - lucky for tesco!

dh and I are going to do an expensice xmas food shop and put in 30 packs of value noodles

when they question it
dh will ask for the manager and then say that we can either buy what we want or they can just put it all back on the shelf

Well I tried to put a of bottles of wine in my online basket once as a means of reserving my slot but being able to use a £90 code...and it wouldn't let me. I thin it would only let me put 6 in my basket of any one item...

spookycharlotte121 · 07/12/2008 23:28

Notanotter.... do you live in bristol??? Just wondered coz ikea and tesco are right next door to one another here.... and if it was that tesco it its a shit hole. I used to work there!

Plus is that your living room in your profile pic with a dc sitting on the mantle? I love how the wall has been done.... it is utterly cool!!!!

NotanOtter · 07/12/2008 23:28

SnowballsintheSky · 07/12/2008 23:30

Actually, thinking about it, when I buy the little cartons of Aptamil I buy a whole tray, so 15 cartons and it's never a problem. I've done that oodles of times.

spookycharlotte121 · 07/12/2008 23:33

Well your dd's room is fab and I want it!!! Are they all just wall paper samples that you nabbed from B&Q?

NotanOtter · 07/12/2008 23:33

well with baby food etc in sainsbos you would just get a tray and put it in....

i am not a big tesco shopper but this is NOT encouraging me

OP posts:
NotanOtter · 07/12/2008 23:35

no i built them up over a while - then paid for some samples online

i do love design stuff and thought about that wall for a long time before doing it...

thanks for the comment i am all pleased now! [x] that's me sending you a kiss!

I live in the only postcode in Uk without a tesco. I am an ex employee (as a student) and I had my xmas delivery cancelled after following the mumsnet top tip for bagging xmas week delivery. Lets boycott them. They do not give a toss.

NotanOtter · 07/12/2008 23:36

yes lets!

spookycharlotte121 · 07/12/2008 23:37

Tis ok. Its really striking as is a clever way of not having to just choose 1 wall paper if your indecisive! I think its gert lush!

slartibartfast · 07/12/2008 23:40

'27' has the story they gave me when I complained about the sign by the customer service desk other retailers selling on to customers - I had gone to complain about length of queues when some checkouts were shut, and threw this in for good measure.

I said I often buy a week's load of 10p (now 6p I see) strawberry yogurts - of which I often nibble two per day - with no problems. They say the checkout people have discretion.

They also have a limit of ONE mobile phone per customer, and there was a student-with-not-good-English ahead who chose a phone, wanted one for her and one for someone else and couldn't understand the concept of two phones being in the rack, which she couldn't buy: Customer service were telling her to come back in an hour! sigh

Write politely to [email protected] (he's the Chief Exec): obviously he doesn't see the emails himself but it goes a bit further up the chain.

samsonara · 07/12/2008 23:45

yabu, they haven't said no you can't ever, you can pre -order next time which I think is fair alternative, life's not too short for pre-ordering from a store that wants to keep some on the shelf for other customers, it's too short for throwing a tantrum over it to a customer service or sales person who isn't making the rules but following them as part of their job.

They'd be fairly upset if the Duggars went to do a shop there then?

sleepyeyes · 07/12/2008 23:48

I know when we have done our monthly bulk order on tesco that I haven't been able to buy anymore than 12 bottles of water or 6 pack cans of coke. But you can buy 12 bottles of other brands of water just not the same brand.
