It should surely be called ParentGuardianorOtherCarerNet?

Anything else is outrageously discriminatory.

Are we not offended?

No, we are not offended, we are the MNers. Anyone who was offended my that wouldn't be here, os wouldn't be part of the 'we' that you are surveying.

shitehawk · 06/12/2008 10:00

Of course it's not sexist.

By parents, for parents.

There are plenty of men here. There are also plenty of posters here who aren't even parents. Discrimination would be not allowing those people to post, not having the word "Mums" in the website name.

Parentsnet wouldn't have quite the same ring about it, would it.

hecAteAMillionMincePies · 06/12/2008 10:00

I'm not offended by the name.

I do think that some women on here are very hostile to the few men, which I think is disgusting because although it is called 'mumsnet', it IS a site for parents, not just mothers. I think that the men here get treated horribly at times. The women can mess about, but are so quick to jump on the men if they do. The women can post what they want - including some quite racy stuff, but the men are jumped on as perverts if they do, because apparently it's 'different' when a woman posts about bumsex or something . Any new man who joins gets abuse 9 times out of 10. No wonder there are so few men on here. That is a shame because men are people too. I think some women seem to forget that

noone is offended.

must be because thankfully, the usual posters here are intelligent and funny and have more going on in their lives than worrying about something so nonsensicle

MrsSeanBean · 06/12/2008 10:26

Oh good.

I am so glad there are other people who have more to worry about than being PC.

Hi wats!
Mrs Sean Bean if you are out for a ruck you would do better to post about chocolate advent calendars.

MrsSeanBean · 06/12/2008 10:30

Reading some of my other threads I was beginning to wonder.

I will refer to this thread when someone rolls out some PC crap in the future.

Ta so much

As long as the choc advent calendars don't have any polyester packaging I think you will be fine.

its cos we can spot a newbie at 15 paces

roundcornvirgin · 06/12/2008 10:38

hmmm I think Mrs Sean Bean may have been teasing us a bit with her op.
'ParentGuardianorOtherCarerNet'

roundcornvirgin · 06/12/2008 10:39

Mrs Sean Bean what about lego advent calenders?

MrsSeanBean · 06/12/2008 10:49

Lego is wrong.

Judy1234 · 06/12/2008 11:20

It's got a very working class title. That's what offends me. Who says mum? It's a dreadful work. I am a mummy. My mummy was a mummy.

So not sexist but "common" I suppose. he he

WalkinginWaynettaWonderland · 06/12/2008 11:23

Xenia

roundcornvirgin · 06/12/2008 11:23

My ds1 insists on calling me 'mummy' at 10. He is a rose amongst thorns.

skidoodle · 06/12/2008 11:23

Mummy is pretty vulgar too really. I was never allowed to use that word by my mother and I don't want my daughter to use it either.

roundcornvirgin · 06/12/2008 11:24

What word do you use skidoodle?

MrsSeanBean · 06/12/2008 11:25

Xenia, you are so right!

But - gasp - how dare you judge someone on the basis of what they call their female parent?
