I am the US version Mamma to DTD2 (thank you The Berenstain Bears).

DTD1 calls me by my first name or the abbreviation of it my closest friend uses.

I have no idea why they chose to do this, it just happened.

DH is Uncle to the DCats. I don't know if that is posh, common or just weird.

I suppose Mumsnet is exclusionary but there seem to be a lot of grandparents, childminders, nannies and fathers on here so maybe it attracts the confident and assertive who are not put off by a name.
