I love Dawn French. I think I'll get her book now.

I loved the book - agree Roisin. I received it for Christmas from ILs and read it in one sitting when the children went to bed one night. Keep going back and rereading the odd letter.

i hate pretty much all publicity photos of comedians- they always go for the same standard expressions, either 'faux naughty' as otter pointed out or 'faux zany'. usually their faces are about 2mm away from the camera with their mouths wide open as if mid 'amn't i kerrazy?' scream...

puts me right off.

I'm not sure why it's called Dear Fatty unless it is to unsettle people. If anything the book should be called Dear Dad as there as more 'letters' to him than JS

I asked for the book for Christmas after hearing it raved about on here, and I didn't like it at all! It's far too gushy, she can't say a negative word about anyone, it gets cloying. "I love you forever and I always will, you're the best, you're really special, love you hun" etc for pages. I couldn't finish it.

And WTF were those stupid letters to Madonna all about? And those ridiculously long jokes to Jennifer? "Anyway, anyway, anyway"... Oh shut it.

And her brushing off Lenny's obviously numerous affairs, whilst listing how much he tries to show her he loves her all the time.

Please don't judge her marriage or how the media happily dived upon any question of fidelity..tis their business and only they know the truth

Very good actress and comedian/authoress and not many of those around regardless of her physical size which can't have helped her career

I don't think I want to read this book. It looks awful, from the title (which I hate; if she is happy with her size then so am I) to the mugging on the front cover.

She is a clever funny woman. Her marriage is undiscoverable by anyone other than her and Lenny.

I would certainly get any book by her, but not this one.
