i am fed up of the term hun being used on this site is an example. it is being used to offend people who buy and sell on prams in another thread.

where i come from this term originates (and still stands for) an offensive term a catholic uses to say someone is a protestant.

therefore it is extremely offensive to call me a "pram hun"

why use a word if you dont knows its meaning.

VinegarTinselTits · 03/12/2008 17:45

I thought it was called jiz

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 03/12/2008 17:48

bloody newbies missing the context.

'hun's is used on mumsnet in the way it is because people who only used to post on buy and sell used to call each other hun all the time (as a term of endearment). The same people used to discuss prams and buggies at lot.

Hence pram huns = a group of people who come onto mumsnet only to discuss buggies.

Read the archives if you want a full explanation on the use of the word hun on this particular website.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 03/12/2008 17:55

I thought this was going to be an interesting thread which had somehow escaped from the pedants threads. Instead, it's some blue-nose from Glasgow who can't see past his or her sectarian nose.

TrinityRhino · 03/12/2008 17:57

straight to the point and poetically put, old lady

elmoandella · 03/12/2008 18:00

old lady. wrong on all points. pmsl. not from glasgow. not a "blue-nose" as you so nicely put it. although that is rather offensive too.

i'm not religious at all.athiest(excuse spelling have lo on lap.

you are obviously an extremely racist person yourself to come out with that remark.

MadamDeathstarOverBethlehem · 03/12/2008 18:02

If it is any consolation OP, if you are being called a 'pram hun' then the person probably is insulting you, only they are implying you are a nut who gos through 50 prams a year rather than calling you a protestant.

MadamDeathstarOverBethlehem · 03/12/2008 18:03

Is gos even a word? It doesn't look right somehow.

Tn0g · 03/12/2008 18:03
Grin
elmoandella · 03/12/2008 18:05

its interesting to see the most of the responses on here come from the ones who are actually using the term on the other thread and have been told they are being offensive. yet it is still being used.

is it too much to ask when your on a thread and someone states they find a term offensive that they stop using that thread for the remainder of that thread at least?
