To think this is quite offensive?

I was talking to a woman at school earlier, one who I know to say hello to but that's about it...

anyway she suddenly asked me if both my kids had the same dad.

I'm not easily offended but I would DREAM of asking someone this! Would you?

very rude

bahcornsilk · 02/12/2008 22:22

A TA at ds's school asked me that when ds1 was in reception. Cheeky cow.

fryalot · 02/12/2008 22:24

sometimes people are strange.

Dp and I moved to this area together, as a couple. Nobody we know over here has ever known us to be anything other than together.

After several years, I got pg with dd2 and announced the news to the neighbours. The first person I told responded "Is dp the father?"

I was "of course he is!!!!" and they said "you never know nowadays if you're not actually married"

to which I thought.... yes, you do you ignorant twat!

Anyway....

what did you say? Did you actually respond at all or was your face just like this:

MenaMilou · 02/12/2008 22:25

Maybe she doesn't think there is anything wrong with two kids in the same family having a diffent dad, so doesn't see it as rude to ask?

bahcornsilk · 02/12/2008 22:27

well I don't think there's anything wrong with 2 kids in the same family having a different dad but it's a strange thing to ask all the same.

MrsSnape · 02/12/2008 22:37

Sorry my OP should say I wouldn't dream of asking that question.

I just said "Yes, they do have the same dad" with a face and she looked quite surprised and said "oh!" cheeky cow.

She definately comes across as 'smug married' to me.

Do your children look very different from one another?

solidgoldbrass · 02/12/2008 23:12

It strikes me as a pretty rude question from a comparative stranger unless your DC look so very different from each other (ie they look like they might have different ethnic backgrounds or something) that it makes people wonder.

Ronaldinhio · 02/12/2008 23:13

depends

if you are Madonna or la Jolie then no

filthymindedvixen · 02/12/2008 23:14

my children look exactly like each other but nothing like dh and I

This woman is a stupid cowbag in my humble opinion ....

Ronaldinhio · 02/12/2008 23:19

cowbag...me likes

Ronaldinhio · 02/12/2008 23:19

is that like a sheepclutch?

Ronaldinhio · 02/12/2008 23:19

or a pigtrunk?

filthymindedvixen · 02/12/2008 23:20

or a cameltoe?

Ronaldinhio · 02/12/2008 23:20

or a hentote?

bahcornsilk · 02/12/2008 23:20

I like sheepclutch.

Ronaldinhio · 02/12/2008 23:21

cameltoe the best of all toes

bahcornsilk · 02/12/2008 23:22

Is cameltoe the same as the unfortunate too tight front trouser situation?

Ronaldinhio · 02/12/2008 23:24

mais oui

filthymindedvixen · 02/12/2008 23:25

that's the one!

bahcornsilk · 02/12/2008 23:28

The 11th toe is to be avoided at all costs. How can people not know that they've got a front wedgie?

gemmiegoatlegs · 02/12/2008 23:29

camel toe

MotherChristmas2OliverJames · 03/12/2008 01:29

camel toes

MotherChristmas2OliverJames · 03/12/2008 01:31

twentypence · 03/12/2008 05:59

Say very slowly

"and.......the.......same.........mum".
