I was told this morning, that my sil's brother's (i will call him B) girlfriend (i will call her A) asked to finish work early on saturday as it was my niece's birthday party. She told her boss that niece's grandmother is ill and we are having a big 'family' party. She was allowed to finish earlier. BUT never went to the party.

My mum has lung cancer, and has never met A, at all [ever], niether have I. She has only been with B for a few weeks.

So I phoned her place of work this morning to make a complaint that she is using MY mother as a excuse to leave work early and that she never even went to the party.

What upset me the most was that she told her boss that this party was just for my mum as she missed the original party as she was unwell.

So was I BU to have phoned her work? I am still very angry as are quite a few family members.

hecate and slimmer speak sense

when your Mum is dying you won't necessarily always remain rational or make good decisions

not something I would have done but am rather at some of the responses on here

Sorry to hear about your mum firstly. My uncle has just died of Cancer and its not very nice and for someone however far related to use her as an excuse to get off work is very poor!
I think yesterday you were just so angry you acted straight away i think by the time you posted the thread you kind of knew YWBU and now as you have said you think it too. I for one always write emails when I am hot headed but someone said to be once before you do something like send an email or make the call leave it for 10 minutes and see how you feel (usually I delete the email and never send it)

I dont think you deserved the killing on here that you got I can completely understand how upset and protective over your Mum you are!

Have a lovely xmas x

I would be vvvv if someone used my mum's illness as an excuse to leave work early.
