If you want to drive round in a mobile ashtray suit yourself but put your bloody fag butts in the car ashtray, don't throw them out of the window. It's gross.

I have never seen a car without either, even more modern cars that do not have lighters seem to have those canister things which are closable and removable so you can empty it and wash it so the car doesn't smell (as much) either!

YANBU. DH reckons that you should be able to carry water pistols and fire them at anyone smoking in a public place on the basis that even if they get wet you are still inflicting less damage to them, than they are to your lungs by smoking.

What do you do then if you're out and there are no bins?? No excuses for littering imo.

My Dad smokes about 60 a day and I think I smoked about 20 a day growing up being in a car with him he used to flick the ash out the window and the wind would blow it back in over us children in the back (cos he would wind the window down an inch for us( gee thanks

Unless you are standing a few inches away from someone and inhaling every breath of smoke, are you really damaged by someone smoking outside?

Errm, why is the driving relevant? If you think smoking is disgusting, fair enough, your view, but wtf has it got to do with driving? And of course it's not more dangerous than talking on the phone. You can still hold the wheel with both hands, and aren't distracted as you would be on the phone.
