And recommended that my contraceptive pill should be one that would help my skin.

I have three small red bumps on my chin. Very small. No crusty bits. No gooey stuff. Just three small red bumps.

And some freckles.

And then he told me my age was against me.

Well, would you go home feeling just a tad minging?

:| nice man!

staryeyed · 24/11/2008 19:31

he sounds charming! I wonder if he's married?

needmorecoffee · 24/11/2008 19:32

did you point out his physical imperfections?
Or ask him why he recommends a drug known to increase the risk of breast cancer for a cpouple of small spots?

PeaMcLean · 24/11/2008 19:34

Erm, actually, I went in asking for the pill. We were discussing different types. Now my day just gets better

If you dont mind me asking Pea...how old are you?

PeaMcLean · 24/11/2008 19:35

Ancient apparently, medically speaking. 39.

I went to the doctors for something and the doctor turned around and said "well, what are we going to do about your skin then?" after I'd discussed the inital problem.
Cried on my way home.

PeaMcLean · 24/11/2008 19:37

Elf, do we have the same doc??? Lovely, eh?

juicyjolly · 24/11/2008 19:40

Oh Pea...He just sounds like a complete arsehole!

Three little red bumps on chin and skin of 39yr old does not equal the elephant man

PeaMcLean · 24/11/2008 19:45

LOL believe me I went home feeling like the elephant man. I sat there self consciously pullling my scarf over my chin

Well, a consultant gynae told his student while examining me (probing stomach area)that I had a 'immature body frame' whatever the fuck that means-I'm 32a and fairly slim and at the time 30yrs old.I was and then .

Feel your pain.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 24/11/2008 19:48

I have been totally traumatised by doctors in the past.

Ripeberry · 24/11/2008 19:49

He'd have a field day with me then. Spots all down one side of my face, on my back, even two on my knee!, my knee i tell you!
But then i've just started my period.

Belgianchox · 24/11/2008 19:54

maybe he was just trying to be helpful? I once went to the dr about my skin and was prescribed a new pill which really did help, and my skin wasn't any worse than what you describe. If it's possible to have an improvement and you're taking the pill anyway i can't imagine why you wouldn't want to try? I don't think he was being rude, just doing his job, probably never ocurred to him that you were pretty, ugly on anything in between!

PeaMcLean · 24/11/2008 19:56

Belgian, that's really far too reasonable for my purposes this evening

gingertabby · 24/11/2008 19:59

what a nasty man!
those dianette have far more nasty side effects including facial hair etc.

maybe he will tell you to do something about your tash next time if he put you on those.

JumpingDizzy · 24/11/2008 20:04

I'm 40 and still get zits would love to see a dr talk to me like that!

Belgianchox · 24/11/2008 20:12

If i has a tash and my dr proposed a solution i"d be thrilled! Maybe I'm just vain........

sep1712 · 24/11/2008 20:14

Can anyone suggest anything for spots???
Apart from the pill.

Ally90 · 24/11/2008 20:14

Is he the tactful dr in the practice? I once suggested to a dr (who had a blunt reputation) if the pill could be the reason I had put on weight as I had read somewhere that it was possible (read a stone of weight, not a huge amount) and he told me no it was not the pill, I ate too much .

Change dr...

sep1712 · 24/11/2008 20:15

Just whilst were on the subject

Belgianchox · 24/11/2008 20:16

must be me, i don't mind there 'tell it how it is' drs, bit then i've lived in france and belgium a while, and they don't mess about here!

MadamAnt · 24/11/2008 20:20

gingertabby - dianette actually reduces facial hair according to the packet sitting in my bathroom (I love dianette).

Fecking RUDE doctor you have Pea.

PeaMcLean · 24/11/2008 20:29

Sorry Sep1712, I don't have anything i can recommend for spots. I didn't really think I had any

OP posts:
nooka · 24/11/2008 20:29

I don't think recommending that you use a type of pill that improves your skin is rude, but it's all in the manner isn't it? If he simply observed "you have a few spots why don't you try x brand "then that seems just fine to me. Why was your age against you? Was that for the spots (I thought they were puberty related, can you get more as you get older?).
