Some people on these boards think I must be lying?

OP posts:
pointydog · 16/11/2008 20:23

no YANBU!

I'd've liked it for a while too

findtheriver · 16/11/2008 20:23

Nope I believe you. But then I have never told you that I think you're missing out on something.

Unlike you, telling me that I am!

perty · 16/11/2008 20:23

YANBU I love it too!

chequersandchess · 16/11/2008 20:23

No.

Hope this doesn't turn into one of those threads though.

No, not at all! There is always some healthy debate about sahm/wohm but that's generally because someone feels the need to criticise the other way of doing things. I believe you do it how YOU want to do it. End of.

Quattrocento · 16/11/2008 20:25

No, you're not being unreasonable. You're also not being smug or unpleasant about wohms. Which is great. Glad to hear you are happy with your choice

Oh and perty likes to tell WOHM they're missing out too.

I love being a parent and having a career. I do not miss out. Neither do my children. Sorry to disappoint some of you, but it's true!

AIBU?

PtolemysMummy · 16/11/2008 20:28

NotanOtter. YANBU. I like it too (for the most part). I wouldn't have it any other way. If someone offered me £5M a year for both of us to work 5 days a week outside the home, I still wouldn't do it. Life's not all about money is it?

perty · 16/11/2008 20:29

ftr you think I'm missing out on a career! It's true I am, but I'm happy to.

You are missing out on time with your children, fact not opinion, if you don't mind missing that time then it's not a problem. I'm sure your kids are happy and you say you are so what's the issue?

And I was so pleased getting the last word in on that thread and here we are again he he he.

findtheriver · 16/11/2008 20:29

i love to too on the whole.
rather be taking dd swimming or to softplay or to her gps or
the park than working

findtheriver · 16/11/2008 20:32

perty - I have not said I think you're missing out on a career! YOU have just brought that up so presumably you have an issue with it!

Everyone misses out on time with their children unless they are in the same room with them 24/7 which probably wouldnt be great for either person!

So stop trying to tell me what I think. All I have said is that I am not missing out. You clearly are desperate to convince yourself that I am, which is YOUR problem not mine!!

Chopchopmissy · 16/11/2008 20:32

YANBU and its lovely that you do - I wish I did but it drove me round the twist enjoy it while you can

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 16/11/2008 20:35

findtheriver · 16/11/2008 20:35

Thank you Flynnie!

rejustabout - not wanting an argument at all. But it's very frustrating to be misquoted!

lovelysongbirdfliesaway · 16/11/2008 20:35

perty your comments of

ftr you think I'm missing out on a career! It's true I am, but I'm happy to.

i think thats pretty true tbf

pointydog · 16/11/2008 20:37

Life's not all about money but it can be. Money is extremely important if you haven't got any

findtheriver · 16/11/2008 20:37

'I am constantly told that i am missing out on being a valid member of society if i were to believe the posts on that thread findtheriver '

notanotter/perty - respond to the MNers who tell you that then.

I don't. I think that if you are in a position to choose, then either work or don't work

But don't tell me that I'm missing out because I am a parent with a career
