... to expect that, if you're going to post on an AIBU thread, you should at least take the time to read the thread??

well that's it really. i know AIBU is all about having fun, and having a go at OP is part of the game, but it is sometimes insanely irritating when people come into the game later on and only skim read the thread, thereby not acknowledging, for example, any clarifications or changes in attitude of the OP, or any admissions that, well perhaps IAB a bit U, thanks.

OP posts:
Macdog · 10/11/2008 19:20

no

AbbeyA · 10/11/2008 19:20

I find the same. They often have a real go at OP who apologised and changed her mind 20 messages earlier! It is very common to miss the fact that they whole thing changed completely half way through!

pointydog · 10/11/2008 19:21

I suppoe people should read the thread but on a message board things move fast, we dip in and out, we are var busy people (apart from the lazy bums ) and often I cannot be arsed reading teh whole thread.

PuzzleRocks · 10/11/2008 19:21

No YANBU, I don't see the point of posts that start "Couldn't be bothered to read all the thread but..".

AbbeyA · 10/11/2008 19:21

Sorry-the not they.

AbbeyA · 10/11/2008 19:22

I always think -why bother to comment if you can't be bothered to read it!

pointydog · 10/11/2008 19:23

because I want to.

pointydog · 10/11/2008 19:24

because I am a fast moving flibbertygibbet

Lotster · 10/11/2008 19:24

Not read all this thread but YANBU.

pointydog · 10/11/2008 19:24

agree

if you are going to make a comment then you need to read ad get all the facts imo

guyFAwkesreQuiem · 10/11/2008 19:45

well the facts should be in the OP then..............people read the thread title, and the OP - and that's what they generally respond to.

beforesunrise · 10/11/2008 20:40

but sometimes you change your mind in response to what people say- and isnt' that the point anyway?

OP posts:
forevercleaning · 10/11/2008 20:43

so which is the underlying thread that you are referring to ?

nickytwotimes · 10/11/2008 20:44

Some of these threads are miles long though. I get your point, but it can be rather tricky!

ScottishMummy · 10/11/2008 20:56

well maybe if op didnt revise and alter narratives according to response received

so clarifications/alterations could also be changing story when no one being affirmative.why not say pertinent facts in op

tbh,if you post on AIBU do expect an often verbose.dont get humpy if no likey the response

onus on op to lay story out factually not bit by bit

Jeez

plumandolive · 11/11/2008 17:03

Stealth? Que?

haven't read the whole thread, but yabu.

plumandolive · 11/11/2008 17:04

no , changed my mind- yanbu, as long as the hread isn't var var long

2shoes · 11/11/2008 17:06

well Imo yabu
sometimes I don't read thr whole thread until after I have posted.
why? so that I can give an un biased onion

pingping · 11/11/2008 17:19

I agree with 2shoes I don't like biased onions either I generally give my views from the op's first post generally the op's views change because they don't like being flamed therefore there orignal post is what they think.

Also its very annoying having to read page after page after page after page after page after page after page after page after page.............. before you can get your bits in.

VinegarTits · 11/11/2008 17:29

Oh i cant be arsed dont have time to read the whole thread, i am at work doncha know

And i like to have my 2p's worth so i just post away

MmeLindt · 11/11/2008 17:33

Depends on

  • how long the thread is
  • how much relevant info the OP remembers makes up as she goes along

And if you start an AIBU thread, then you deserve what you get.

Stealth
I don't get the pink elephants comment, having a thick day today.
