To really like 'Merlin'

even though it's cheesy?

my only issue is that Colin Morgan - Merlin - was not allowed to use his Scottish accent.

YANBU. I love it too.

laweaselmys · 09/11/2008 15:12

really?

I find the cheesyness distracting and annoying... mind you, I quite like HSM so I reckon we all have stuff we shouldn't like but do!

pookamoo · 09/11/2008 15:13

I like it too.
I thought Colin Morgan was from Northern Ireland?

Flamesparrow · 09/11/2008 15:13

We're loving it too. We can't quite work out why as it is actually quite shit, but still sit down to watch it each week (will prob watch this weekend's this evening).

How's your little fella expat?

Flamesparrow · 09/11/2008 15:13

I like HSM too

expatinscotland · 09/11/2008 15:14

he's a wee bruiser, FS. he's sleeping next to me.

dh has the girls out to get some provisions and a baby bath so we can give him a quick dunk and pose him for some photos.

i love his murky blue eyes. they're like wee stars.

DD1 had eyes like that. they are pea green now.

his hair is falling out, though!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

belgo · 09/11/2008 15:18

I think Merlin is great fun to watch - the perfect length - anything longer and I just can't concentrate.
Glad your ds is doing well expat!

expatinscotland · 09/11/2008 15:19

it's like Hercules when it first started.

yes, i used to watch that, too.

differentID · 09/11/2008 15:22

I like Merlin a well, despite massive inaccuracies. It's pure escapism.

no... I really love it too - in fact think prefer it even to strictly come dancing

slayerette · 09/11/2008 15:42

I enjoy it too - the only programme we watch as a family so it gets bonus points from me for that. Plus....

I have a tiny and hugely inappropriate crush on Arthur

WorzselMummage · 09/11/2008 16:04

I cant get over Victor meldrew in it .. I'd like to be able to watch it but i have 'I Can't Believe It' going round and round in my head the entire time it's on.

DANCESwithLordPottingtonSmythe · 09/11/2008 16:05

LOL know what you mean Worzel but me and dh like it. The king is a moron though.

roisin · 09/11/2008 16:09

We enjoy it too: good Saturday eve family viewing.
ds1 (11) was out at the cinema last night, so I watched it with ds2 and recorded it for ds1. At the start of the prog I hinted to ds1 that the identity of the boy was important (he's read lots of books on Arthurian legends).

He was beside himself all the way through trying to work out the boy's name

Katisha · 09/11/2008 16:14

The DSs and DH like it but I get hugely fed up with :
a. Victor Meldrew going on about sossery and sosserers.
b. The like totally teenage stuff
c. Every episode going : we can only solve this with magic. But we're not allowed. But we have to. Well we'll have to be secret and careful.
Can Uther possibily be quite so thick as not to see that every single problem at Camelot is magic-related?
d. That VERY unhelpful dragon. Why do they bother going to ask it things? It just flies off cackling mysteriously.

squilly · 09/11/2008 16:31

LOL Katisha. What a great summary. I love Merlin despite all this nonsense.

It's bit like fancying a bloke who's really not that handsome or clever or witty, but somehow, there's just something about him that draws you in and makes you think that things will work out. The programme's hugely flawed, desperately naff, but irresistible imo. And my dd loves it too. Please don't mention HSM though as dd's really not fond

Not unreasonable at al - I'm quite lovely actually ...............

roisin · 09/11/2008 16:42

Katisha - your post makes me chuckle!
We like the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously.

Merlin · 09/11/2008 16:42

Oh ............ have read the thread now .....

MrsWeasley · 09/11/2008 16:48

LOL @ Katisha

We love it, Everything stops for Merlin, we all cuddle up on the sofa and watch together

poppy34 · 09/11/2008 17:09

lol at katisha post - the dragon is uniquely unhelpful

UnfortunatelyMurderedMe · 09/11/2008 17:15

I download this and suggest watching it when the dds are getting on my nerves as it means they will sit still and be quiet for well over half an hour. Really like it!
