I used to eat those please do note the 'used to'

DustyTv · 02/11/2008 19:31

DD 11mo got hold of the dogs kibble, straight out of the bowl, the other day when I had taken my eyes off her for about 2 seconds and shoved lots of them in her mouth then toddled off as I ran after her

They will eat anything wont they!!!!

SmileandWave · 02/11/2008 19:34

Ah don't worry I used to eat Cat Crunchies, doggie chocs and dog biscuits as a child and it hasn't affected me

hecate · 02/11/2008 19:35

oh well. could be worse. you could hear crunching, rush to them, force open their mouths and pick out bits of snail.

Or you could look over, wonder what that black stain around their mouth is, and then let out a wail when you realise it is slug.

Mine have also tucked into cat food.

And cat litter.

After a while you start thinking ah well, at least it's protein. (or roughage, in the case of the cat litter)

wehaveallbeenthere · 02/11/2008 19:36

It shouldn't hurt the child if it doesn't have anything the dog food (over a year ago???) had from China. What was it? Melamine?
Remember all the recalled dog foods? and cat foods too.
Disgusting but yes children will put all sorts of things in their mouths unless they are taught that it is not food. They explore everything with their mouths too. Therefore surfaces need to be cleaned regularly to make sure there aren't germs that will harm them.

Geepers · 02/11/2008 19:37

YANBU.

He let them eat them? Or they grabbed some and put them in their mouths while his back was turned?

If he let them, then that's gross and my husband would be in deep shit.

nickytwooootimes · 02/11/2008 19:38

At least it wasn't a suasage roll form Greggs.

Now, that would have been awful.

memoo · 02/11/2008 19:38

they are 7 and 9! he had some in his hand, the DC asked to try them so he let them!

If it's straight out of the bowl complete with dog slobber then no, that's not a nice thought.

Pristine ones out of the pack I wouldn't worry about, in fact I'd congratulate myself that they had ingested something vaguely nutritious for a change (DD is a v fussy eater).

Troutpout · 02/11/2008 19:45

oh i used to eat these too
never did me any harm

MingMingtheWonderPet · 02/11/2008 19:47

That's quite funny really.
They're not barking now, are they?

scaredoflove · 02/11/2008 19:48

I'm sure I saw on tv once a man whose job was taster for dog food company. All the foods are tested by humans, I'm guessing they are safe for kids, no added salt for one thing!

gingerninja · 02/11/2008 19:49

My DD goes mad for cat biscuits, it's quite disgusting!

memoo · 02/11/2008 20:01

You cook em a perfectly good Sunday dinner with meat and veg, the refuse to eat half of it but then will happily eat bone shaped dog biscuits. Go Figure!

guyFAwkesreQuiem · 02/11/2008 20:05

I also used to eat those as well

BananaSkin · 02/11/2008 20:18

Could be worse - I went off to cut some grass for the guinea-pigs the other day and came back to find DS drinking from their bottle!

Bewilderbeast · 02/11/2008 20:31

if they were spillers shapes or similar I wouldn't worry they won't hurt them

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/11/2008 20:34

i used to eat dog biscuits - red ones were yummy

never did me any harm

WOOF and wags tail xx

there are worse things to eat, ie worms in garden etc

meglet · 02/11/2008 20:40

OMG! I used to LOVE dog biscuits when I was little. I used to eat them at my Grandmas house .

my parents thought I was barking . Still let me do it though!

AlistairSim · 02/11/2008 20:50

Isn't this how most people wean their children?

dsrplus8 · 03/11/2008 00:02

HEY YOU KNOW WHAT TO SERVE DP AT DINNER TOMORROW! he he ha ha evil cackle!!!

AussieLou · 03/11/2008 09:24

It doesnt hurt. Good source of protein.
I ate dry cat food and my sister ate wet dog food. She ate spiders and I ate snails. Neither of us were ever sick.

ledodgy · 03/11/2008 09:31

I used to love going to my grandparents house because they had dog biscuits. They were all lovely pastel colours and tasted lovely!

SpookyButNice · 03/11/2008 09:31

I used to eat cat biscuits by the handful when I was a kid.

My parents thought it was a little odd but never stopped me! I wouldn't think they've got anything harmful to people in them or we wouldn't feed them to out pets

ohdearwhatamess · 03/11/2008 09:45

Wet dog food would be a lot, lot worse.

I once tried Bonios (partly boredom, partly to see why my dog ges crazy for them) and they have no flavour at all.
