yeah i think yabu

of course i doubt anyone else will say that except me.

mrsmaidamess · 29/10/2008 08:08

I kick my dd out of the room every Wednesday when SATC is on. There is no way I would let her watch it..its far too adult.

Anna8888 · 29/10/2008 08:09

Relax. We took DD (3) and the DSSs (13 and 10) to see SATC the movie the first week it came out and we all loved it. Nothing shocking at all.

horsygirl · 29/10/2008 08:10

really? no blow jobs etc?

LadyLaGore · 29/10/2008 08:10

LostProphet · 29/10/2008 08:12

With Custy and LaGore on this.

Soooooooo pleased - was worried I was the only one thinking "why?"

horsygirl · 29/10/2008 08:14

But they shag all over the place in the series!!!!!!

OP posts:
Anna8888 · 29/10/2008 08:19

The film is a lot less hard core than the TV show.

onthewarpath · 29/10/2008 08:20

I remember watching horror movies at friends house when I was a teen. Yet, I would be mortified if my children did the same. YANBU

wannaBe · 29/10/2008 08:23

yabu. there's really nothing in it that's that bad.

I watched dirty dancing when i was 12 and greece a lot younger than that.

zippitippitoes · 29/10/2008 08:27

13 yabu

noonki · 29/10/2008 08:28

YABU - most 13 are having sex anyway

LadyLaGore · 29/10/2008 08:39

But they shag all over the place in the series!!!!!!"

so what? dyou think your 13yo has never thought about sex? that its existence has never occured to her? mad. we were avidly scanning the 'problem' pages in J17 at this age.
from this age onwards, id be trying to make sure she had positive input wrt sex to go along with all the bullshit she will be hearing ANYWAY.

AbbeyA · 29/10/2008 08:40

At 13 yrs you can't keep total control-a lot of 13yr olds are getting up to far worse!
At least she told you. I would keep the lines of communication open-if you make a great fuss she will still do it, the only difference is that she won't tell you!!

ilovemyghds · 29/10/2008 08:44

The film is not quite as 'full-on' sex wise as the series. There are a couple of sex scenes though as far as I can remember.

hercules1 · 29/10/2008 08:46

I wouldnt bat any eye lid at my near 13 year old watching a 15.

SquiffyHock · 29/10/2008 08:51

FWIW I would be pissed off but my children are 4 and 2 so maybe my perspective will have shifted by 13.

NCbirdy · 29/10/2008 08:55

THe film has no real sex scenes in at all, a couple of nude sceens and a couple of "in bed after/before" but nothing even remotly like the series. I wouldn't let a 13 yo watch the series but would have no qualms about the film sorry!

Maybe you should check if it was vetted first, if the parent just randomly allows 15s then I woiuld be worried, if they checked it first and decided it was an ok 15 then fair enough!

MsSparkle · 29/10/2008 08:58

I was 14 when the first series came out and used to watch it! I can't say it made me go out and start shagging every bloke in sight I think if you make a big deal out of something, it just makes teenagers more curious.

A 13 year old watching a 15 rated film doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

ScottishMummy · 29/10/2008 09:04

it is just a tv show, not likely to propel dd into shagging, shoe shopping or moving to manhattan

if you concernbed get a dvd set, watch it togeter have a girly night in

just because something is on television doesnt mean it will necessarily influence or shape behaviour and attitutudes

ScottishMummy · 29/10/2008 09:06

i do know you are referring to dvd movie but i alwys think of SATC as tv show, anyhoo no biggie
