to think that considering sil is a sahm, she could at least make my brother a meal when he gets in from being at work allday

and no she is not ill or anything.
db works allday then comes home and makes the tea.

OP posts:
MrsFogi · 13/10/2008 15:59

I very rarely manage to make a meal for dh - looking after kids is often more demanding than a ft job. I have no idea how people manage to make a decent meal every day when they have young kids.

TigerFeet · 13/10/2008 16:02

Perhaps the SIL can't cook

Perhaps the SIL is a lazy cow

Who knows??

Would be interesting to hear the OP's brother's views on the subject. Does he actually mind? If he does then he needs to have it out with his wife. If he doesn't then his family need to stop having views on unimportant things that don't concern them.

I come home knackered from work and I find that cooking helps me wind down... but I like cooking so it isn't a chore. Perhaps the OP's brother feels teh same way.

Babieseverywhere {hijack with unrelated crypticness) it hasn't worked this time iykwim.

SmugColditz · 13/10/2008 16:03

I can't believe nobody else had thought of this name.

Your brother is wet and a weed.

Kewcumber · 13/10/2008 16:21

why do you thnk the rocking horse thread was a torch thread custardo? Was only a couple of hundred posts and hardly the stuff of burning withces

Just slightly amusing.

MrsMattie · 13/10/2008 16:21

I haven't made dinner for DH for weeks. (Me - SAHM, he - full time working)

sadly i think gourmet meals in the poor DB's house are as rare as rocking horse shit!

Sycamoretree · 13/10/2008 16:48

You have other issues - this isn't just about his tea.

If I found myself getting irked about my brother's meal times then I would realise I had some bigger quibble with my SIL than this.

Is it because she doesn't, and you do, and you can't quite figure out how she managed to wangle it? (god, that's a good word to get out every now and again).

FWIW, my DH is SAHD, we take it in turns. I know think what he does is harder.

What time did you finally get to sleep last night then?

SixSpotBonfire · 13/10/2008 16:54

I work all day and then I cook for DH and me in the evening. I don't have a problem with that. He does stacks of other useful stuff while I cook, and he also clears up afterwards. I'd much rather cook than clear up. Don't see the problem myself.

Thanks for the link. Just took a look at some of BodyBag's other threads, too. I detect a 'stoutist' theme. Quite vile judgemental, I'm afraid.....

Sycamoretree · 13/10/2008 17:06

You poor love. Mine was 3.30am in the end. And I don't even have the DC's to blame .

Am at work and staring at my in tray like a zombie and just prattling on MN as I can't engage brain in anything else.

Hope tonight is better.

BTW, we made DD a "monsters keep out" bedroom sign the other day. Someone on MN suggested it. It really worked - not sure what your DS is afraid of, but might be worth a try.

Apologies - shameless hijack. As you were.

Oh, congrats - didn't know you were pg! Hopefully you'll start to feel a bit better as you come out of 1st trimester slump. How old is DS?

wotulookinat · 13/10/2008 17:23

Haven't read the whole thread, but I thought I'd say that I am now a SAHM and DH does the cooking in the evening. He enjoys it. And that way he knows he'll get something edible.
