To think will not bother with MN any longer

Hi all,
AIBU to feel like not bothering any longer with MN. Have tried on loads of occasions to join in threads but seem to be constantly ignored. Can't decide if this is just a clicky club or just a lot of rude people. I have never been offensive or rude to anyone but do not seem to be able to cross the newbie threshold.

I think you need to get a better name. Anything with a number in it and your eyes just glaze over. Also it's easy to think you are being ignored, I've been here for ages, thought no-one knew who I was, mentioned it on a thread a while ago and lots of people did know me (like I recognise tiredemma!)
Keep plugging away, mnet is an invaluable resource for us mums out there.

saint2shoes · 07/10/2008 16:57

change your name
I do find the girlie names and ones all about the dc's abit off putting(no idea why) a good mas name stads out(sort of like shouting in a crowded room)

CountessDracula · 07/10/2008 16:57

yes I started a thread today that no fecker has even bothered to reply to

Kewcumber · 07/10/2008 16:57

and the only person whose post has been directly acknowledged is CD.

Are the rest of us supposed to take offence now?

SixSpotBurnet · 07/10/2008 16:58

What are you interested in?

Fashion? Music? Sleb thingy (whatever that is)? Scuttlebutting (wtf is that?) Pick your favourite topics and away you go.

MadreInglese · 07/10/2008 16:58

we need to publish a new self help book

"How to have Successful Conversations and Meaningful Relationships on Mumsnet"

Kewcumber · 07/10/2008 16:58

probably too too dull CD

CountessDracula · 07/10/2008 16:58

Who are you?
You can't even spell cucumber ffs

fullmoonfiend · 07/10/2008 16:58

join a click then.
Or become an'expert' on something.
Or just post prolifically or indiscriminantly.
Or grow a thicker skin

But don't just leave because not everyone knows your name. Tis an extremely huge, fast-moving internet forum, not a measure of how successful you are at socialising.

There are loads of cosy threads where you can get to know people 'properly' if you would be happier with that.

TiltingAtWindmills · 07/10/2008 16:58

persistence is key.
it's like any community.
if you're new to it, you need to make a huge effort.
you seem to be doing OK.
look at all the attention you've got, just from this threatened flounce.
bit of a naff username though - choose something more memorable.

saint2shoes · 07/10/2008 16:58

DANCESwithLordPottingtonSmythe
OY leave us number people alone

SixSpotBurnet · 07/10/2008 16:58

tiredemma - I recognise you!

ellie35 · 07/10/2008 16:59

That would be telling, btw am not needy just deslike being ignored. Guess I was bought up to respect others!!

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 07/10/2008 16:59

the only reason half my threads are answered is because i answer them myself lol

the other half just disappear

i am thinking of suggesting that every so often when you click on active convos it diverts you to unanswered threads and then these fuckers might answer them more often

VineGARISHtits · 07/10/2008 16:59

Ellie i have been posting for well over a year and its only recently i have noticed i get replies to my posts, i dont think people are intentionally rude, its just because it can be fast paced posting. If i am on a thread i always read all posts but dont always reply to individual posters, i just get stuck in. and you dont have to be offensive or rude to be noticed, but a distinctive name does help

CountessDracula · 07/10/2008 17:00

oh god
i don't know if I can resist it
have you tried... b.. b... b.....

Kewcumber · 07/10/2008 17:00

if its respect you're looking for you're in the wrong place (unless of course you earn it throguh being persistent, witty, brave, clever etc etc).

fullmoonfiend · 07/10/2008 17:00

c'mon, let's do a name makeover and then, all the cool kids will love you and you can go to the prom and everything!

Mammina · 07/10/2008 17:00

ellie I have been nosey and looked at threads you have posted on & it seems that you have been acknowledged on a few of them so I think maybe you're being a little bit over sensitive
just post and don't worry about it

TiltingAtWindmills · 07/10/2008 17:00

"Guess I was bought up to respect others!!"

so..... you thought you'd better start a thread moaning about us all?

PsychoAxeMurdererMum · 07/10/2008 17:00

have you only been here for a few posts???

wow

you need to stick about longer than that!!!

tis like the baby groups, you need to go for more than one session before you decide that they are all cliquey bitches ignoring you

Kewcumber · 07/10/2008 17:00

don;t say it CD...

DANCESwithLordPottingtonSmythe · 07/10/2008 17:00

Actually if I'm being really blunt...I remember Tiredemma because I spent alot of time and thought posting on a thread of hers ages ago, only to be ignored in favour of another poster. I'm not bitter though you understand

pass me another one

tiredemma · 07/10/2008 17:01

You need a new name.

theinsider · 07/10/2008 17:01

Woo-hoo I've been acknowledged.

I feel respected.
