and while I'm at it, I also hate people referring to the police as "the filth" or "pigs"

My nice middle class bil even called them the filth and he didn't even mean it in a nasty way!!!!!!! Just thought it was Okay to call them that.

Nobody in rl calls them the filth though, do they? They only do that on The Bill

My Bil DID

I think it's meant to be cool somehow, but it just sounds immature.

MorningTownRide · 07/10/2008 12:11

My dad was a policeman and refers to them as the filth. Tongue in cheek though. He is turning into a bigoted old bastard a la Prince Philip.

S'not nice though is it?

WelliesAndPyjamas · 07/10/2008 12:13

They get called a lot worse than that by some. And get threats against themselves and their families. It's just the way it is these days.

tessofthedurbervilles · 07/10/2008 12:28

I have said it in jest....with no harm intended...they do a fantastic job and I am glad they are about and have every respect for them but why do they have to look so bloody young nowadays?! (wink)

MamaG · 07/10/2008 12:29

YANBU
It bugs me too

mou · 07/10/2008 12:41

My DS uses it (10), and I hate it, also calls them 'rozzers', I get all poncy...."they are policemen/women, and one day you might need them so show some respect!!"

Tortington · 07/10/2008 12:48

what is rozzers slang for - i use that

jesuswhatnext · 07/10/2008 12:53

don't worry, they don't mind my db is a 'filth' as is his gf, we call them that all the time, they DO know that we are VERY PROUD of them though (btw, you should hear waht the 'filth' call us public, would make your hair curl)

mou · 07/10/2008 12:55

I don't know custardo....sorry....I just have a hissy fit at DS as he is determined to talk in slang a lot of the time. No offense!

TigerFeet · 07/10/2008 12:57

My favourite bit ever of The Young Ones is when Neal joins the police and he knocks on the door of the scummy flat and shouts "Open up, it's the pigs" v v funny

Ashantai · 07/10/2008 16:17

We call them the "bizzies". God bless Brookside

Tortington · 07/10/2008 18:24

yeah i use bizzies too

i assume as in busy bodies

rozzers - to roast hmmmm - not so bad

cheshirekitty · 07/10/2008 19:26

Bizzies is scouse, police are very busy in Liverpool (where I come from).

MorningTownRide · 07/10/2008 19:30

TigerFeet "Neil! Why have you got that tit on your head?"

4jen · 07/10/2008 19:54

Being called the filth is the least of their problems. Finding themselves on YouTube on a regular basis is more worrying.

Can't give away all the secrets of Fed Speak but those who are well known and commit a lot of crime are generally referred to as slag!.

ThatsNotMyFanjo · 07/10/2008 20:01

Thin blue line between police and crim in my book - though I do appreciate the line is there, I'm glad I only see them from afar

unaccomplishedfattylegalmummy · 07/10/2008 23:08

Yup another "bizzies" here too.

LemonyAle · 07/10/2008 23:23

I like "babylon"

MrsBates · 07/10/2008 23:26

My bro says 'the rozzers'. Quite like that.
