and while I'm at it, I also hate people referring to the police as "the filth" or "pigs"

My nice middle class bil even called them the filth and he didn't even mean it in a nasty way!!!!!!! Just thought it was Okay to call them that.

I have seen a so-called grown man teach his two-year old granddaughter to call the police pigs and stick two fingers up to a passing police car, so it does happen in real life.

I dislike it too, but I am slightly biased.

Not on Youtube (as far as I know) but DH is/was on facebook and not through choice.

You're not being unreasonable. I really hate it when I hear mothers threatening their children "If you don't behave that policeman will take you away and lock you up!" What impression of the police does the child grow up with?

It's a horrible term.

We don't use it but we do say 'the cops'.

Starbear · 07/10/2008 23:45

Boydem! I don't even know what that means but schoolboys in S London use it

unknownrebelbang · 07/10/2008 23:46

luby - my elderly aunt once tried a similar line with DS1 when he was a toddler.

Needless to say he just squealed with laughter, and carried on doing what he was doing.

salsmum · 09/10/2008 10:05

My friend is in the police and when he texts me he starts off with "filth here" lol

tissy · 09/10/2008 10:15

I call them "the fuzz", no idea why!

I also can't help myself saying "you're nicked my son" in a mockney accent whenever I see a police car stopped at the side of a road with another car.

I can't even rememeber where that came from- a tv show, maybe?

Starbear · 09/10/2008 10:37

Sweeny! I think 'I love it's a fair cop Gov'nr'
