Why are Boden clothes so annoying and do people who wear them want it to be recognised?

Don't they say everything about the people who wear it? Their lifestyle? And the fact that they recognise each other?
But some of the none hotchy potchy stuff I admit is nice...
as long as it isn't obviously Boden

Aggghhhh what does it say about you if you wear next stuff - can recognise that stuff anywhere... DOES THIS REALLY MATTER?????

SaintRiven · 06/10/2008 14:49

I wouldn't know what Boden looks like but then am a fashion ignoramous.
Just looked at their online thing and its looks M&S to me.

yes- I hate next too.

When cameron wore boden - that did it for me.
Johhnie is an old Etonian too.
It's a club.

scarletlilybug · 06/10/2008 14:52

I wear it ( a bit), but try not to wear anything that would be too instantly recognisable as Boden.

Some is a bit overpriced, IMO.

I don't think it particularly says anything about me or my lifestyle - other than that I can't usually be a*sed to go clothes shopping any more.

plus3 · 06/10/2008 14:52

exactly froggy exactly

plumandolive · 06/10/2008 14:55

But froggy- it's so recogniseably boden isn't it? Like Joules is too. It's buying a lifestyle

Heh, just whiling away some time blogging elsewhere, mindlessly contemplating whether I'm going to order stuff from Boden or not. Thoughts on one item: "Against: it's VERY Boden, and it's a bit Giant-Toddler-Wear." So being obviously Boden is really NOT something I want ... although if very bored I like to spot small children in Boden (big applique lollies on tops, that sort of thing).

plus3 · 06/10/2008 14:57

I brought a shirt from the summer catalogue that was screaming Boden and I LOVED it. You put me into what ever social class you like, make whatever small minded assumptions you feel the need for and I would still wear that shirt and love it.

mummy5bellies · 06/10/2008 14:57

I'm just glad me, dh and 5dcs have clothes to wear at all. Boden sometimes turns up in our charity shop and if it fits them they look like posh kids for a bit

orangina · 06/10/2008 14:58

I think you need a nice cup of tea and a biscuit plumandolive....

plumandolive · 06/10/2008 14:59

plus3- is this getting to you?

OP posts:
DaphneMoon · 06/10/2008 14:59

I have never bought Boden in my life, never even seen a catalogue (do they have one?) I like Next can't see what's wrong with it. I like the fact that I don't have to leave my house to buy it and it is here the next day.

froggyfroofroo · 06/10/2008 14:59

so?

what about people who like wearing stuff with nike etc. splashed across the front, thats screaming "look at me" too. nobody slags them off.

plumandolive · 06/10/2008 14:59

orangina
I think plus does.....

OP posts:
plumandolive · 06/10/2008 15:00

the nike stuff is chavvy.
the boden stuff is middle class.

boden is ...aspirational

OP posts:
froggyfroofroo · 06/10/2008 15:03

and? why are middle classes fair game on here?

Pria · 06/10/2008 15:03

Sometimes buy Boden sometimes Gap sometimes George at Asda.

Buy what I like and what I can afford at the time. Post has the whiff of inverted snobbery about it.
