I have never seen a student work on a train.
Unless perhaps they are the guard.

CatIsSleepy · 01/10/2008 16:24

i find women putting their make-up on on trains incredibly annoying for some reason
feel like I am sitting in their bathroom

NotCod · 01/10/2008 16:24

FairLadyRantALot · 01/10/2008 16:25

maybe they are just very keen students and actually do learn....not all students are lazy, surely....

My mum's pet hate is 'business men' on trains who take over the table with their laptops, paperwork, phones etc and make sure everyone knows how important and busy they are.

FabioAsGoodAsItGets · 01/10/2008 16:26

No really never seen student work on a train.
Usually they just sigh and think we are all fascinated with their yooof and being all radical with their clothing like.

Really, we think,

Ugh.
Get a wash.
And those shoes don't go with your hair.

ethanchristopher · 01/10/2008 16:27

pmsl at Fabio

its the students reading something very radical with the dreadlocks that make me fee

Simplysally · 01/10/2008 16:27

I find people reading books written in a language I can't read more irritating....or when they turn the page too fast or slow for me .

I used to read some fairly poncey books on the tube to uni, mainly as I'd not bothered reading it the night before at home and I just had time to skim it before I got there.

lol

ComeOVeneer · 01/10/2008 16:28

Shoes going with hair?!?!? Have I missed some style rule here?

SpandexIsMyEnemy · 01/10/2008 16:28

i've done this b4 on my comp and I am working btw!!

noonki · 01/10/2008 16:29

ec - me too! (though from uni)

but I irrationally HATE people that talk on trains (not just on mobiles, but talking at all... and I know that I am being unreasonable but I just want them to SHUT UP)

unless they are little children and then I let them off a bit

janeite · 01/10/2008 16:29

What about teachers who do their marking on the train? I don't travel to/from work by train but know several teachers who do and they sit and work their way through a class set on the train; to be honest, I don't know how they can carry them.

My Year Tens and Elevens have huge, hard-backed planning books and they know that I can only mark seven in any one evening, as my arm stretches if I try to fit more in my bag!

combustiblelemon · 01/10/2008 16:29

No, students are fine. Getting stuck near a business man who's talking loudly on his mobile about 'upskilling workbaskets' is annoying.

FairLadyRantALot · 01/10/2008 16:30

Hm, but maybe they have other responsibilities and do need any time they can to spend on their books....I know that, if I was going by train/bus, I probably would use that time to study....
and gosh, I would love to be able not to have to drive in...blardy parking on campus is shitey....sigh...

TeeBee · 01/10/2008 16:30

Unreasonable!

OrmIrian · 01/10/2008 16:31

You are quite right. As a student I always used to intend to work on trains but they were such a novelty to me (being a pampered car-driven child) I never got anything done. Even reading.

Simplysally · 01/10/2008 16:33

I hate it when HR-type people read appraisals, application forms and so on on the tube (I have seen this quite often)... I'd hate for my 121s and appraisals to be open to anyone with 20:20 long sight.

FabioAsGoodAsItGets · 01/10/2008 16:33

Mercy I was on a train recently where Annoying Businessman spent all the time saying on his phone

HO HO YES I'M ON MY WAY TO EDINBURGH RIGHT NOW, ONLY JUST BACK FROM GENEVA WHAT WAHT WAHT. WELL THEY WANT ME AND MY SKILLSET THEY HAVE TO PAY!

and then

YES I WAS JUST IN GENEVA AND DUBAI BEFORE THAT DONCHA KNOW, EDINBURGH NEXT, BIT OF A LET DOWN HO HO HO STILL IT'S THE CLIENT THAT PAYS

and continued

MY LAST TRIP WAS TO TIMBUK FARKING TOOOO, NOW IT'S EDINBURGH OR BUST. WHA WHAHAHHAHAH. YES YES YES STAYING AT THE POSHO, GOT A SUITE. VERY IMPORTANT STUFF TO DO.
